THERE was good news for people worried about the number of empty shops on Camden High Street this week as a major retailer opened up for business.

The DIY chain B&Q has moved into the old Lidl supermarket site and had deputy mayor  Councillor Nazma Rahman on hand to help staff cut the ribbon and get the doors open for their first customers.

Shop manager Priscilla Seaforth, said she hoped the ‘local’ store would make it feel “closer to home”.

Another new branch is also opening in Palmers Green.
