Iberostar Anthelia, Costa Adeje, Tenerife
Situated on the seafront of Playa de Fañabé on the Costa Adeje in Tenerife, this 5 star hotel has a reputation for high quality service from a dedicated staff. The hotel is just a short walk from two golden sand beaches, a small cove, a shopping centre as well as bars and restaurants. You can be as active or chilled as you like; swim in a heated freshwater pool or cool off in the saltwater pool, join in the underwater spinning classes, work out in the two fitness rooms or enjoy an afternoon at the Spa. Dining options are varied with a choice of 5 restaurants and 3 bars, including a fresh fish and seafood restaurant and a lounge bar with great sea-views and live music. The hotel caters very well for families; with three children’s clubs, a children’s pool with slides and baby paddling pool, early evening disco and on-site babysitters. If you’re travelling with children, book a ground floor room with sea view, as these are close to the swimming pool.

Gran Oasis Resort, Playa de las Americas, Tenerife
The 4 star Gran Oasis hotel is located in the vibrant Playa de las Americas area of Tenerife. The Hotel caters to both families and couples, without compromising for either. The 4 star Los Jameos Playa Hotel is located on the quiet Los Pocillos beach, in Puerto del Carmen. Accommodation is arranged in 6 ‘blocks’, interspersed with subtropical gardens, walkways, pagodas, pavilions and swimming pools. Almost every activity you can think of is catered-for, with 4 tennis courts, 2 squash courts, gym, beach volleyball area, giant chess board, shooting range, mini golf, billiards, card game area and more. Iberostar Playa Gaviotas, Jandia, Fuerteventura
The Iberostar Playa Gaviotas is situated just outside the main Jandia strip area, with great views of, and access directly to, the 4km-long Playa del Matorral. With many return guests, it consistently receives high praise, and is rated as one of the best resort hotels in the south of the island. Hotel Costa Canaria, San Agustín, Gran Canaria
This adults-only hotel is located on the beach front in San Agustín. The hotel boasts direct access to the San Agustín beach and is within walking distance of of Playa de Las Burras, Playa del Inglés and Maspalomas. Access to the newly refurbished spa is free for all hotel guests and is highly recommended. The Spa offers waterjet pool, jacuzzi, bubble massage beds, floating pool, steam bath and water massage along with a range of treatments. Continuing the truly all-inclusive theme, are free tennis courts, gym, volleyball court and putting green. The Hotel has a novel sun-bed tagging system, where you ‘tag’ your chosen sun-bed on day One of your stay and it remains yours for the rest of your holiday. This hotel is perfect for a getaway and for those that want a relaxing break, and if night life is your thing, then the renowned Playa del Inglés is just a short taxi ride away.
La Palma & Teneguía Princess, Fuencaliente, La Palma
Situated in the South-west of La Isla Bonita, is the secluded 4 Star La Palma & Teneguía Princess Hotel. Nestled into the cliff side, amongst Banana plantations and with stunning sea views, this is a great island getaway. The hotel features a whopping 11 outdoor swimming pools (plus one thermal bath in the Spa), 5 restaurants, 2 pool bars, a piano bar, disco bar, sauna, Spa and hamman. The hotel also offers a separate and private nudist area complete with swimming pool, gardens and sun-bathing area. As the resort is set into a cliff, it’s not recommended for those with very limited mobility, though there are elevators and ramps. The hotel is spread out across a large site, with plenty of both shaded garden spaces and sunbathing areas. This is a much quieter island than its neighbours, so hiring a car is recommended – La Palma is small enough to get around easily and the roads are usually pretty quiet.
Tip – many guests use coach transfers and there can sometimes be a bit of a wait to check-in. Hire a car so you don’t have to wait for the coach, and you should be able to get to the hotel and check-in before the coach-loads arrive. You’ll also have wheels to head off and explore the rest of the island.
Fuencaliente has some great well-marked, local hiking paths while the island itself has over 1000Km of trails. One of the most popular walks is the Ruta de los Volcanes, which takes around 6 hours and snakes through spectacular scenery of pine forests and volcanic cones.
Grand Melia Palacio de Isora, Alcalá, Tenerife

Melia’s ‘Red Level’ luxury service, which is Adults-only at some hotels, is available in both the adults-only and the family sections of this hotel. For utter decadence, book a Garden Villa, complete with private swimming pool. This affords plenty of space and privacy, together with access to the hotel’s facilities. The Grand Melia Palacio de Isora is highly rated by couples, families and groups, and unlike many hotels, is large and efficient enough to cater for all. The complex offers 5 swimming pools with 3 especially-geared towards children. Dining options are anything but limited with 5 gourmet restaurants and 6 bars on-site, offering everything from Sushi bars to Iberian feasts, and cocktail lounges to disco bars. All rooms are spacious, well-decorated and come with their own terrace or balcony.
Roca Nivaria GH – Adrian Hoteles , Adeje, Tenerife
The Roca Nivaria Hotel is located on the seafront on Tenerife’s Costa Adeje. This family-friendly hotel has a great children’s club, two children’s heated pools, and a night-time kid’s disco. The large bedrooms all come with either a balcony or terrace area, free wi-fi and a safe. The two main infinity pools are linked via waterfall, and both have sea views looking towards the neighbouring island of La Gomera. Dotted all over the resort are private chill-out Balinese Beds, though the ones by the swimming pools have the best views and are snapped-up quickly. The three restaurants offer something for everyone; one is a buffet-affair (including a pirate-themed children’s buffet area), another offers Spanish-oriented cuisine and a third has an Italian theme. Two bar areas take care of drinks and entertainment, though it must be said that the Hard Rock Hotel, which offers superb entertainment, is also nearby. Outside the hotel, a lift takes you down to a small pebble and black sand beach. A shuttle service, provided by the hotel, is available to take guests to Playa de Fañabe, as well as the shops, bars and restaurants of Costa Adeje.
