Watch: "The Hateful Eight" trailer released

The long-awaited trailer for Quentin Tarantino's eighth feature film, "The Hateful Eight," was finally released on Wednesday.

The movie is set in the snow-covered western landscapes of Wyoming, "six or eight or 12 years after the Civil War," according to the trailer's description on The Weinstein Company's YouTube channel. Some "Hateful Eight" teasers were shown at Comic-Con, but this was the first extended version with dialogue.

Kurt Russell stars as bounty hunter John Ruth, also known as the "Hangman," who is trying to take fugitive Daisy Domergue, played by Jennifer Jason Leigh, to the town of Red Rock to bring her to justice in the midst of a blizzard.

On their way, they meet bounty hunter Major Marquis Warren, portrayed by Samuel L. Jackson, and Chris Mannix, played by Walton Goggins, who claims to be the town's new sheriff.

The four get stuck at Minnie's Haberdashery, thanks to the blizzard, and meet four strangers: Bob, played by Demian Bechir, who is taking care of Minnie's, Oswaldo Mobray, played by Tim Roth, who is the hangman of Red Rock, "cow-puncher" Joe Gage, played by Michael Madsen and Confederate General Sanford Smithers, played by Bruce Dern.

The eight stay at Minnie's as they learn that it may not be possible for them to get to Red Rock.

Tarantino said last year that he no longer wanted to make the film after the script was leaked on the Internet, but fans will be relieved to hear the film will hit theaters on Christmas this year.
