  • Angels' Endrys Briceno: MiLB pact from Halos

The Angels signed Briceno to a minor-league contract Dec. 5.

Briceno, who turns 33 in February, pitched in independent ball in 2024, striking out 84 across 52.1 innings for the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs of the Atlantic League. The righty reliever is likely headed to the Triple-A Salt Lake bullpen to begin 2025.

  • Angels' Garrett McDaniels: Poached in Rule 5 draft

The Angels selected McDaniels with the third pick in the Rule 5 draft Wednesday.

A lefty reliever who turns 25 this week, McDaniels opened the year at Single-A and finished the year at Double-A, logging a 3.19 ERA, 1.27 WHIP and 84 strikeouts in 73.1 innings. McDaniels' strikeout rate trended up against harder competition, jumping from 22.3 percent at Single-A to 32.4 percent at High-A and then 46.2 percent in a brief three-inning run at Double-A. He'll need to be kept up in the majors all season, otherwise the Angels would need to return McDaniels to the Dodgers.

  • Angels' Sam Bachman: Will be a starter in camp

Angels general manager Perry Minasian said Monday that Bachman will be stretched out as a starter during spring training, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.

Bachman was limited to just 16 starts and 61.2 innings -- all in the minors -- in 2024 after recovering from right shoulder surgery. He also accumulated only 43.1 frames in 2023 because of shoulder problems, and all 11 of his appearances in the majors came in relief. However, the Angels still want to develop the righty as a rotation option, with a shift to the bullpen down the line possible. Bachman is likely to begin the 2025 campaign back in the minors.

  • Angels' Chase Silseth: Coming to camp as starter

Angels general manager Perry Minasian said Monday that Silseth (elbow) will be stretched out to start during spring training, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.

Silseth had right elbow surgery in early August, although it seems it was a minor procedure and he should be at or close to 100 percent for the start of spring training. Seventeen of Silseth's 25 appearances at the big-league level have been starts, but he was limited to just 43.1 innings between the majors and minors in 2024 due to injury and could shift to relief, if needed.

  • Angels' Dakota Hudson: Gets MiLB deal from Angels

The Angels signed Hudson to a minor-league contract Monday, Aram Leighton of Just Baseball reports.

Hudson posted an ugly 6.17 ERA in 18 starts this past season for the Rockies. The 30-year-old holds a 5.08 ERA and 1.53 WHIP since the start of the 2022 season and seems likely to begin the 2025 campaign as rotation depth at Triple-A Salt Lake.

  • Angels' Bryce Teodosio: Returns to Halos on MiLB deal

The Angels re-signed Teodosio to a minor-league contract Nov. 27.

Teodosio was non-tendered last month but will remain in the organization on a minor-league pact. The outfielder got his first taste of major-league action in 2024, picking up one hit in 12 plate appearances with the Halos.

  • Angels' Yusei Kikuchi: Three-year, $63M deal with Angels

The Angels signed Kikuchi to a three-year, $63 million contract Monday, Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports.

The Angels have been aggressive early in the offseason, adding around $100 million in payroll via signings and trades. Kikuchi is their biggest get so far and adds some much-needed rotation help. The southpaw collected a 4.05 ERA and 206:44 K:BB over 175.2 innings between the Blue Jays and Astros in 2024. He was particularly good down the stretch after landing in Houston at the trade deadline with a 2.70 ERA and 76:14 K:BB across 60 frames.

  • Angels' Jose Suarez: Avoids arbitration with Halos

Suarez signed a one-year contract with the Angels on Friday to avoid arbitration, Sam Blum of The Athletic reports.

Suarez will remain with the Angels for a seventh season. Across 22 major-league outings in 2024, he posted a 6.02 ERA, 1.61 WHIP and 56:27 K:BB across 52.1 innings.

  • Angels' Eric Wagaman: Dropped from 40-man

The Angels designated Wagaman for assignment Tuesday.

Wagaman slashed .250/.270/.403 with 10 RBI across the first 74 plate appearances of his MLB career in 2024, but the Angels decided his 40-man spot would be better used on Jack Dashwood, who had been eligible for the Rule 5 Draft. However, Wagaman turned in an .808 OPS over 121 minor-league games, so another team may be willing to claim him off waivers.

  • Angels' Jordyn Adams: DFA'd by Halos

The Angels designated Adams for assignment Tuesday.

Adams appeared in 11 games for the Angels last season, slashing 229/.289/.314 with four RBI across 38 plate appearances. His 40-man roster spot will be used to shield Matthew Lugo from the Rule 5 Draft in December.

  • Angels' Jack Dashwood: Protected from Rule 5 Draft

The Angels selected Dashwood to their 40-man roster Tuesday.

Dashwood appeared in eight games for Double-A Rocket City in 2024, allowing just three runs and striking out 15 batters over 10 innings. The 27-year-old lefty could report to Triple-A Salt Lake to begin the 2025 campaign, and his MLB debut could come shortly afterward if he maintains similar success.

  • Angels' Matthew Lugo: Added to 40-man roster

The Angels selected Lugo (hand) to their 40-man roster Tuesday.

The Angels acquired Lugo in the trade that sent Luis Garcia to Boston at the deadline, though the former was only able to play one game in the Angels organization before a hand injury cut his season short in early August. Now that he's on the 40-man roster, the 23-year-old outfielder will be protected from the Rule 5 Draft, and the lack of depth in Los Angeles' outfield unit could allow him to make his MLB debut in 2025.

  • Angels' Scott Kingery: Agrees to one-year deal

Kingery agreed to a one-year, $770,000 contract with the Angels to avoid arbitration Thursday, Jon Morosi of MLB Network reports.

Kingery hasn't appeared in the majors since 2021, but the Angels acquired him from the Phillies on Nov. 1 and added him to the 40-man roster three days later. He should have a chance to compete for a bench role in the middle infield during spring training.

  • Angels' Matt Thaiss: Designated for assignment

The Angels designated Thaiss for assignment Thursday, Bill Shaikin of the Los Angeles Times reports.

Thaiss slashed .204/.323/.299 with 16 RBI across 186 plate appearances last year while serving as the primary backup to Logan O'Hoppe -- a role the newly signed Travis d'Arnaud is expected to fill. Thaiss may draw interest from other teams in need of depth at catcher, though no landing spot is likely to result in a starting job for the 29-year-old backstop.

  • Angels' Kevin Newman: Nabs one-year deal with Halos

The Angels signed Newman to a one-year, $2.5 million contract with a $2.5 million club option for 2026 on Thursday, Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports.

The veteran infielder could be the current favorite to open next season at shortstop for the Angels if Zach Neto (shoulder) isn't ready. Newman slashed .278/.311/.375 with three homers and eight steals in 111 games for the Diamondbacks in 2024 and graded out as a plus-four in Outs Above Average at shortstop.
