  • Avalanche's Valeri Nichushkin: Nearing return to lineup

Nichushkin (lower body) participated in Sunday's practice and is inching toward being ready to return to the lineup, according to Meghan Angley of Guerilla Sports.

Nichushkin was a full participant in Sunday's session but left the ice early, indicating he still has some work to do before getting clearance to play. He will likely miss his 10th straight game when Colorado hosts Minnesota on Monday. Nichushkin has 11 goals, 17 points, 52 shots on net, 10 blocked shots and 18 hits across 21 appearances this season.

  • Avalanche's Josh Manson: Two apples in win

Manson put up two assists in a 6-3 win over Dallas on Saturday.

Manson isn't an offensive guy -- he has 12 points, including 11 assists, in 35 games this season. However, he has managed 80 hits and 47 blocks, so he may give you some value in deep leagues that count those categories.

  • Avalanche's Scott Wedgewood: Wins in first game back

Wedgewood made 26 saves in a 6-3 victory over the Stars on Saturday.

It was his first start since he sustained an ankle injury against Buffalo on Jan. 2. Getting Wedgewood back is a big boost for the Avs, as Mackenzie Blackwood played eight of nine games and would probably benefit from a break. Wedgewood's 2.44 GAA and .914 save percentage are already strong, and the net situation in Mile High is far more stable with Blackwood in town. Daily managers can count on solid numbers when Wedgewood is in the net.

  • Avalanche's Casey Mittelstadt: Snaps five-game point drought

Mittelstadt scored a goal and added two assists in a 6-3 win over the Stars on Saturday.

Due to Saturday's outburst, he snapped a five-game point drought and an eight-game goal slump. Mittelstadt's last multi-point game was Dec. 8, a span of 18 games. He has nine goals, 20 assists and 64 shots in 47 games this season. Mittelstadt is not the guy he was in Buffalo in 2022-23 when he hit 59 points, but he will give fantasy managers some secondary scoring.

  • Avalanche's Cale Makar: Sixth fastest defender to 100 goals

Makar scored two goals in a 6-3 win over Dallas on Saturday.

The snipes included his 100th goal, coming in his 362nd game. Makar is the sixth-fastest defenseman in NHL history to reach the milestone. George Boucher (223), Bobby Orr (299), Paul Coffey (300), Ray Bourque (329) and Denis Potvin (348) were the five fastest. On another note, Makar blocked a wrist shot off the inside of his left ankle during the game, and while he seemed to shake it off, it could be worth monitoring.

  • Avalanche's Jonathan Drouin: Three-point effort in win

Drouin scored a goal and added two assists in a 6-3 win over Dallas on Saturday.

He had five shots. Drouin got the eventual winner late in the second period with a wrister from the high slot. He earned his 100th goal in his 578th NHL game. Drouin has four points (one goal, three assists) in his last two games. He has 10 helpers, 14 points and 23 shots in 14 appearances this season. Drouin is a solid source of secondary scoring in most fantasy formats, and his value would get a bump if he delivered more production on the power play.

  • Avalanche's Artturi Lehkonen: Ties career high for points in game

Lehkonen had two goals and two assists in a 6-3 win over Dallas on Saturday.

Lehkonen tied his NHL career high for points in a game. After being limited to two goals in his previous eight contests, the 29-year-old forward broke out offensively. Lehkonen is putting together a bit of Cy Young season, with 18 goals and just eight assists in 35 games. Unfortunately for fantasy managers, Lehkonen doesn't get enough power-play exposure to provide an additional boost. Still, a player on pace for a possible 35-goal season will help most squads.

  • Avalanche's Jere Innala: Sent to AHL

Innala was reassigned to AHL Colorado on Saturday.

The Avalanche now have just 11 healthy forwards on their roster, so unless Valeri Nichushkin (lower body) is ready to return for Monday's game against Dallas, sending Innala to the minors is probably a temporary maneuver. The 26-year-old Innala has no points, three shots, 17 hits and four blocks in 13 appearances in 2024-25.

  • Avalanche's Scott Wedgewood: Set to face Dallas

Wedgewood is expected to start at home against Dallas on Saturday, Avalanche play-by-play announcer Conor McGahey reports.

Following his activation from injured reserve last Sunday, Wedgewood will make his first appearance since Jan. 2 against Buffalo. He has a 5-4-1 record with a 2.90 GAA and a .900 save percentage in 12 outings this season. However, his lackluster statistics mostly came with Nashville at the start of the campaign. Since being acquired by Colorado on Nov. 30, he has gone 4-2-0 with a 2.35 GAA and a .917 save percentage in seven outings. Dallas will be a challenging adversary to return against, as the Stars rank 10th in goals per game with 3.16 in 2024-25.

  • Avalanche's Ivan Ivan: Recalled from AHL

Ivan was called up from AHL Colorado on Saturday.

Ivan had a goal and an assist in two AHL games this week. He was sent down Monday to get in some playing time after missing seven contests with an upper-body injury. The Avalanche had 11 healthy forwards ahead of Saturday's tilt versus Dallas, so expect Ivan to see time as a bottom-six forward.

  • Avalanche's Calvin de Haan: Generates assist in loss

De Haan provided an assist and two blocked shots in Thursday's 4-3 loss to the Oilers.

The helper ended an 11-game point drought for de Haan. The 33-year-old looks to have overtaken Sam Malinski for a spot in the lineup, though the bottom pairing of the Avalanche's defense could be in flux on a game-to-game basis depending on performance. For the season, de Haan has seven assists, 38 shots on net, 47 hits, 50 blocked shots and a minus-6 rating through 35 appearances.

  • Avalanche's Joel Kiviranta: Manages assist in loss

Kiviranta notched an assist, two hits and a minus-2 rating in Thursday's 4-3 loss to the Oilers.

Kiviranta has three helpers over 10 games since the holiday break. The 28-year-old had five goals across three contests leading into the break, and that uptick in production has earned him a larger role in the Avalanche's middle six as the team deals with some injuries at forward. Kiviranta is at 15 points, 54 shots on net, 73 hits and a plus-5 rating through 46 games this season. As long as he's on the second line, he's worth consideration in fantasy formats that reward his physical play.

  • Avalanche's Devon Toews: Helpers in consecutive contests

Toews recorded an assist, two shots on goal and two blocked shots in Thursday's 4-3 loss to the Oilers.

Toews has a helper in back-to-back games after going three contests without a point. The top-pairing defenseman is up to 22 points, 77 shots on net, 54 blocked shots and a plus-14 rating over 42 appearances. He's earned five goals and four assists over his last nine outings. Toews' earlier slumps may have made him available in some fantasy formats -- check the waiver wire.

  • Avalanche's Jonathan Drouin: Pockets assist Thursday

Drouin notched an assist in Thursday's 4-3 loss to the Oilers.

Drouin also briefly left the contest in the second period after taking a high hit from Leon Draisaitl. The 29-year-old Drouin was able to finish the game, logging a total of 16:44 of ice time. He's picked up a goal and six assists over eight appearances since he returned from an upper-body injury. For the season, he has 11 points, 18 shots on net and a plus-4 rating over 13 contests.

  • Avalanche's Mikko Rantanen: Provides assist in loss

Rantanen notched an assist, two blocked shots and two PIM in Thursday's 4-3 loss to the Oilers.

Rantanen helped out on a Logan O'Connor goal in the first period. The 28-year-old Rantanen has six goals and four helpers over 10 contests since the holiday break. He took a turn as the second-line center Thursday, a move the Avalanche haven't used often this season. It's possible he'll be in that spot for a while given Casey Mittelstadt's ongoing struggles. Rantanen is at 25 goals, 37 assists, 127 shots on net and a plus-10 rating over 46 appearances. In any usage, Rantanen figures to see top-six minutes and plenty of power-play time.

  • Avalanche's Logan O'Connor: Opens scoring in loss

O'Connor scored a goal on three shots in Thursday's 4-3 loss to the Oilers.

O'Connor has two goals and two assists over his last four outings. The 28-year-old forward opened the scoring Thursday at 5:17 of the first period. His recent offense is nice but unlikely to last in the long run. He's at six goals, eight assists, 57 shots on net, 45 hits, 17 PIM and a minus-7 rating through 46 appearances this season.

  • Avalanche's Nathan MacKinnon: Pots pair of goals in loss

MacKinnon scored two goals and added two PIM in Thursday's 4-3 loss to the Oilers.

MacKinnon has a trio of multi-point efforts over his last four contests. The superstar center built the Avalanche up to a 3-0 lead in the first period, but it crumbled away over the final two frames. MacKinnon still leads the NHL with 72 points (17 goals, 55 assists) while adding 173 shots on net, 41 blocked shots and a plus-16 rating through 46 outings.
