The Board and Officers of Chattanooga Elks Lodge #91 announces the Fifth Annual Scholarship and Charity Polar Plunge. The event will be held at the Chattanooga Elks Lodge swimming pool at 4 p.m. this Saturday. The current pool temperature is below 40 degrees.
Divers, including members and guests, will take the cold plunge for donations which will benefit students and families in our community through Nursing and Trade scholarships, as well as services for youth, veterans and families in our area.
Over the past four years, the Chattanooga Elks have raised over $40,000 through this event to support a variety of local programs.
"This is just one of many fundraising events held by Chattanooga Elks throughout the year which provide funds to enhance the quality of life and support our community," officials said.
The Nursing Scholarship program was selected as the major project for the Tennessee Elks Association in 1956 to relieve a critical shortage of nurses in Tennessee and is administered by the Tennessee Elks Benevolent Trust. In addition to the Nursing Scholarships, TEBT administers the Trade Scholarship program for graduating seniors as well as non-traditional students (those changing career fields or those needing additional education to progress in their current career) who will be pursuing a trade or certificate program.
