Wow! Adopt 500, I can't believe we're here already. Half a thousand is a pretty big deal to celebrate! So this guy is a very special guy; a quintuple mutation Zebra! Five mutations for five hundred seemed fitting... He comes with a full extended mane, chimerism, a somatic bloody shoulder, horizontal striping, and filled striping! He's also blind in the right eye BUT if the winner doesn't want that, I will allow that and change it to be blue-red heterochromic like the left eye!
To win this special milestone boy, it'll be an impress me! However, I know impress me comps can be very intimidating or off putting, so there's a few guidelines for this one!

Zebra Name: Orthrus
Personality: Typically a loner, he watches the herd from a distance, only interacting with others in a time of danger. During those times, he is silent and solemn but leads the herd with surefooted confidence.
Story:
Orthrus is a mysterious zebra, seemingly a sentinel from legend. No one can remember a time without Orthrus keeping his vigil, yet no one knows where he came from. The herd knows that though he may not be visible, Orthrus watches over them. It is known that the only time Orthrus approaches the herd is when there is grave danger. One such instance was The Great Flood.

The sky was dark and rumbling as the herd settled in a grove alongside a stream. As most of the herd was nodding off, there was a loud clash and brilliant light before the sky burst open. The rain pounded the ground and the trees. As the herd sheltered from the storm under the trees, the stream swelled. Knowing the foals couldn't handle much more of this weather, the herd decided to try to get to a new shelter, an overhang across the stream.

Unbeknownst to the herd, the stream was no longer the gentle current they knew. Instead, the stream had swelled, with a ferocious undertow. Eager to get to a dry shelter, one of the foals rushed ahead. He was barely in the water before he was knocked over. The current was strong, and started to carry the struggling foal downstream as the herd panicked.

Suddenly, out of the darkness, Orthrus appeared across the water. He dove in, and swam, powering through the tumultuous water. When he reached the struggling foal, Orthrus dove under the water. He went under the foal before rising, the foal securely across his back and above the water's surface. He crossed the water to the herd, where he leaned down to deposit the foal besides its mother.

Without a sound, Orthrus turned and headed towards a nearby ridge. As the herd followed in his footsteps, they crossed the muddy earth without a single stumble. Instead of climbing the ridge, Orthrus turned and looked at the herd before squeezing through a hidden passage, narrow and dark. The herd was scared, but they had faith in their guardian and followed. Emerging on the other side of the passage, they discovered they were in a cavern, warm and sheltered from wind and rain. But Orthrus was gone. Having done his duty, Orthrus disappeared, waiting for the next time he was needed.

Story:
Gemini started out life as a state fair exhibit. "Come see the magnificent Two-Faced Zebra! One of a kind creature! A special sight to behold!" Signs and billboards with his face were plastered throughout the city to draw more people in to see Gemini. The state fair had been dwindling in attendees over the years, but this two-faced Zebra sure did bring in a lot of folks.

Now, a state fair is no place for a zebra. Hoards of loud people, games, and rides roared around Gemini for a week's time, and he was always an anxious mess after each evening. Fair goers had the opportunity to get their picture taken with Gemini on the last night the fair was running, and things ended poorly. A young family gathered around Gemini and one of the kids in the family started to scream as she stepped in something nasty on the ground. The scream startled Gemini and he tried to leap out of his enclosure. This ended in Gemini kicking the kid and Gemini losing an eye. His head had crashed into the top of the tent he was in, damaging his eye beyond repair. The kid was fine, thankfully, but Gemini was rushed off to a vet clinic to try and save his eye. The vets weren't able to save his eye, and his owners wanted nothing to do with him at that point.

Gemini was sold off to an auction house after losing his eye, being traded from city to city as people tried to sell him. Eventually he ended up at a meat auction, emaciated and in poor condition. A young couple happened to be there and immediately caught sight of Gemini. They swooped him up and got him into intensive care to bring him back up to full health. Once he was healthy, his true personality began to shine through; a kind and protective zebra who watches over his herd, as peaceful as can be.

Story: WIP, this is the messy synopsis that'll be written out later! Two halves, twin eater. The herd says his mother was to give birth to twins, and he arrived instead. He was two completely different halves, and he switched rapidly between two different personalities. His mother raised him to know the difference between right and wrong however many did not trust him. His mother believed he was sent by the gods, as some sort of challenge to the herd and that if raised properly he would bring them prosperity and joy. Years later her faith would be put to the test as many believed she had gone crazy after he was born. An insane storm started to brew, and during the downpour a tree was hit by lightning and fire began to spread. Thomas, who looked like the very combination of rain and fire itself would lead the herd confidently to safety, or at least those who he could convince to trust him.

The birth of such a foal caused a stir among the herd, two faced, two bodied but also equally split in half. The elder matriarchs wanted to outcast him, a foal like him was only to cause trouble for he resembled the twin gods Vihaan and Liron. These gods were well known trouble makers fueled by jealousy and spite as they fought for their part of the day to be seen. Vihaan, the lighter buckskin stallion, was aptly in charge for rolling the sun across the horizon. With this he brought summers, abundance but also the great drought. His brother, Liron, the darker roan stallion was in charge of hauling the moon up high into the sky when darkness consumed the land. Liron brought light during the darkest times when the moon was full, but also complete absence when the moon was empty, the blue stallion additionally brought longer, colder nights during the winter. Considering both twins were equally matched in positives and negatives that there would be little to dispute. Wrong.

As the years passed and the brothers aged, each felt equally entitled to their share to be larger, longer and therefore more appreciated by the herds that roamed. Some years the winters were longer or the summers harsher, each brought hardships of their own; the brothers refused to see that balance was key despite the increased mortality among those who worshipped them. Many years and Vihaan became hungrier for dominance than his brother, forcing and pushing the moon down in an unprecedented act of rebellion against his brother. Liron could not fight the anger and entitlement in his brothers heart that had built up over centuries, Liron finally backed down which caused a never before seen shift in the cycle. Days became unnaturally long, summers brought droughts of intense strength and the grasses that filled the rolling hills died and grew brown and dry.

The herds were growing restless, constantly on the move searching for something to eat in times of such hardship. Many of them lost faith in the gods and distanced themselves, they had lost Liron. God of winters, night and guiding light, he had gone dormant; hiding in the shadows his brother produced. It would be many years until Liron raised his tired head again to witness the destruction Vihaan had caused as he laid waste to land they had both worked so hard to obtain and keep in balance. The blue roan twin was taken aback by the land that was once lush and green being nothing more than a brown ocean that rattled with the wind. Liron decided enough was enough and that something had to be done, he could no longer sit back and watch his brother ruin everything they had worked so hard towards since foalhood. When Vihaan refused to see the error in his ways, the buckskin twin fought viciously the taste of acid on his tongue as he launched into a tirade against his brother in an attempt to push him back down. But no more. The twins fought a long and arduous battle, only causing more damage to the land.

The parents of these gods were appalled by what they had witnessed, having sat back to watch it unfold, hoping that they would be able to settle the dispute themselves. In a final act, Liron lashed out at Vihaan blinding him in one eye and becoming the final straw for their disappointed parents. As a result, the twins were forced together in one body. As punishment for pushing his brother away out of spite and greed, Vihaan received only his blind eye and Liron being forced to remain hand in hand with his twin was punishment enough. They were forced to work together to restore the land to its former glory. While most of the land returned to nearly normal, no matter how hard they tried the grasses remained dry and brittle. The summers were still longer than had ben originally planned but the herds resentment towards them diminished as the years grew more predictable.

The worry for the matriarchs was that, Ouranos would be born with the negative traits from both twins. While this may not be the case, the young stallion struggled with his temper for most of his life, but he was not a recluse or cowardly like Liron has been for centuries when the herds needed them most. Ouranos is attentive, and willing to stand up for himself and those who are unable to, clearly lacking Vihaans oblivious nature in terms of injustices. While the stallion can show aggressive and explosive tendencies the good outweighs the bad, however, there isn't a single horse among the herds that perfect. Ouranos has had too prove himself worthy of remaining due to the discrimination against his coat colour. There are supposedly foals born like him every few centuries as a gift from the gods to represent what they call the Joining. According to legend, each foal has become more and more actively present among their herd but Ouranos has been the only to remain into adulthood. Ouranos works hard each day to remain in the matriarchs good graces, but a deep instinctual calling is humming within him to leave and start his own harem, one where the odd and pushed away are welcomed. He is grateful for everything the herds had taught him and the compassion that they had showed, the stallion promised to be only a whinny away.
