Dear Cathedral Family,
In every ending there is a new beginning. This Sunday will begin the last week in “ordinary time,” the long green season after Pentecost. We will celebrate the reign of Christ on this Christ the King Sunday, looking forward to his coming again, even as we anticipate a new beginning as the church year turns to Advent on November 28.
I hope that you will consider supporting “Pies for the Planet,” led by Virginia Ladd and her team of volunteers, by purchasing a delicious pie for your Thanksgiving celebrations. Then you can pick up an Advent journey calendar from the ministry table in the Chapter House as an aid to making room for Christ in your life during the season leading to Jesus’ birth. We will also have Advent wreath kits for our youngest members, as well as candles available for those of you who keep an Advent wreath at home to mark the days during this season of anticipation.
Bragg Van Antwerp kicked off our annual stewardship campaign, “Every Perfect Gift,” last Sunday with compelling words about our commitment as stewards of Christ Church Cathedral. You can see video of his presentation and read the text of his remarks by clicking the links in this email. Our stewardship speaker this Sunday will be Carl Cunningham, Jr. All of our stewardship materials, along with ways to set up electronic giving may be found on our website.
Stewardship letters, including pledge cards, are being mailed this week. Filling out, signing, and turning in a pledge card is a tangible way of affirming your commitment to Christ’s mission, as well as giving thanks for His gift to you.
Faithfully,
Beverly+
