Keep politics outside the church doors

To the priests of Ohio: You have every right, responsibility, and privilege to preach and instruct the good news of the Gospel. And I, for one, am privileged to hear it every Sunday.

As well, over 365 days a year, 24/7, your congregants try to practice those fundamental teachings of Jesus: love your neighbor as yourself; love your enemies; and Love Your God with your whole heart and mind.

Why, then, do you also feel the need to tell us how to vote? Do you not trust our own informed discernment process?

Trust that we are all trying to serve the sacredness of life based on our teachings and experiences. Both options -- Issue 1 and the current heartbeat legislation now on hold -- in my perspective, seem to lack the mercy of God. What a choice!

Still, please let us make our own decisions and keep politics outside the church doors.

Trust us.
