AKRON, Ohio — Northeast Ohio officially hasn’t reached spring yet, but some springlike weather is in the forecast this week, including chances for severe thunderstorms.

We’ll get the best of it Monday, with the National Weather Service predicting sunny skies and highs in the upper 50s. That’s nearly 20 degrees above the normal high temperature for the date. It will remain mild overnight, with temps in the upper 40s and partly cloudy skies.

It’s on Tuesday when things could get interesting. Highs will be in the low 60s, which sounds great. But there’s a 70% chance of showers and thunderstorms, and Cuyahoga, Erie, Lorain, Huron and Medina counties could see some severe thunderstorms, forecasts show.

Tuesday night will be mild as temps stay in the mid-50s. Winds will be strong, with gust up to 32 mph, and there is a 90% chance of showers. There are chances of storms into early Wednesday morning.

Highs will approach 60 degrees Wednesday but there is a 90% chance of showers. Very cold air will arrive by the evening. Overnight lows will be in the mid-20s and there is an 80% chance of snow showers.

It will be colder Thursday as highs stay in the mid-30s, but it will be mostly sunny. By Friday highs again will be around 50 degrees with sunny skies.

Right now the weekend is looking very good. Saturday will be sunny with highs in the mid-50s, while Sunday also will be sunny and temps will climb to about 60 degrees.
