What’s the vibe at this place?
There’s no better way to get your evening going than chilling out (or warming up) in the rooftop pool of Bath’s thermal spa, with nothing but steam to obstruct your gaze across the Georgian city towards the rolling countryside. I’d love to call it serene—and it is slightly—except we were far from the only people here as this is one of Bath’s most popular attractions. And yet the noise of the bubbling water as we admired the frosty view was wonderfully satisfying.

Take us into the room. How was the session itself?
The Twilight package is what we booked and what I'd recommend, where in an evening you can soak in the warming rooftop pool, bask in the spa itself and enjoy a meal and drink in the restaurant over a three-hour time slot. Towels, robes and slippers are provided, which is a plus and we felt they were well cleaned and comfy.

What about after the treatment?
In the end we took so long in the spa and pool—you want to make the most of it—we didn't have time to sample the food and drink but that didn't matter as Bath's restaurants were ready to welcome us afterwards. Instead we hung out in the Wellness suite with its Roman and Georgian themed steam rooms, infrared sauna, an invigorating ice chamber and an excellent further thermal pool named the Minerva Bath. It's all well-lit, not too dark, and feels modern, perhaps overly so, with its clean cut lines and plentiful glass.

What do they do best here?
Loved the infrared sauna, which claimed to be better at easing muscle aches than a conventional one. It worked. However, I'd send anyone here, primarily for the rooftop thermal pool. It's just incredible to find yourself high above Bath's rooftops in bubbling warm waters gazing at the cityscape. Perfect on any weekend break with limited time.
