Review: Le Rêve, Wynn Las Vegas
Photos
Give us the big picture: What’s the vibe of the place, what’s it like?
The elegant, in-the-round theater at the Wynn Las Vegas is almost as spectacular as the show itself. Throughout the show, the stage actually raises and lowers into a 27-foot-deep pool of water. Nearly every movement of the stage and its set pieces is automated, including the 172 high-powered fountains, a 47-foot-tall rain curtain, 16 fire-shooting devices, and numerous video projections. Le Rêve even has a staff of 11 divers who work underwater during the show, assisting performers.
What kinds of events can we see here?
Since it opened in 2005, Le Rêve has told the story of “The Dreamer,” who navigates through a surreal world trying to choose between two lovers, “True Love” and “Dark Passion.” This world includes aerial acrobatics, synchronized swimming, light comedy, and simply beautiful dancing, with almost every act touched by water. For 2018, the show has been refreshed with 13 new songs as well as new costumes and choreography.
How are the seats?
Each of the 1,600 deep red seats are never more than 12 rows from the stage, offering incredible views of the show. The poolside seats will get you up close to the dancing and synchronized swimming but beware you may also get splashed. The biggest splurge, but so very worth it, are the Dream seats, which come with a private HD monitor that shows what’s happening beneath the water.
Good for kids?
The show allows children over the age of five, but it's best to wait until they're at least teenagers.
Anything in particular that makes this place special, from the programming to a unique feature it has?
The 80-foot-high dive performance will actually take your breath away.
If we’re going to be in town, what—and who—do you think this is best for?
This is one of the best theater productions in the world. The ticket is pricey, but it blows every other big-ticket production out of the water (pun intended).
