Everyone has heard of Tokyo: its grander-than-grand fish market; its imperial palace; its extravagant street fashions. Being there is a fever dream that you don't want to wake up from. With this in mind, we decided to do a deep dive into the Japanese capital, which was voted the world's best city in this year's Readers' Choice Awards and is featured in our brand-new collection of City Guides on the redesigned cntraveler.com—you know, ICYMI.

In the latest episode of the Travelogue podcast, we talk about the Japanese practice of hanami, neighborhoods that let you live a local (we see you, Koenji), and the secret way to see Tsukiji's tuna auction (hint: there's more to it than just getting up super early). Along the way, we discuss some of our 35 favorite hotels in Tokyo, the importance of etiquette, and how to navigate the city's expansive public transportation system. We also spend time discussing what else you should be eating besides sushi and ramenOkonomiyaki! Curry! Tonkatsu! Egg sandwiches from FamilyMart!—and agree that there's no such thing as a bad meal in Tokyo. And that's only the half of it.

Thanks to our indomitable host Brad Rickman and to Traveler editors Corina Quinn, Sebastian Modak, and Katherine LaGrave for the lively discussion. As usual, an extra shout-out of gratitude to our engineer Brett Fuchs. Check back every Friday for our latest installment of Travelogue.
