Talking Cars 345: Driving the 2022 Ford Maverick
Plus, advice about making the switch from a gas-engine car to a full electric vehicle
We discuss our first impressions of the all-new 2022 Ford Maverick. Much like the Hyundai Santa Cruz, the Maverick is based on a small SUV platform and has a compact pickup bed. For some buyers, though, the Maverick’s true ace could be that it’s the first-ever truck to come standard with a hybrid powertrain. We cover driving impressions, interior accommodations, and debate the baby elephant in the room: How usable is the little Maverick when it comes to traditional pickup-truck duties?
Audience question
My wife and I are interested in getting an electric vehicle. Would you recommend buying the new Hyundai Ioniq 5, or should we try to get a used Tesla Model 3 or Model S instead?
