Talking Cars 400: Driving the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV
Plus, which car should an audience member buy for long-distance travel?
Main theme: Take the Nissan Rogue and give it some new external and internal styling, and you pretty much have the current Mitsubishi Outlander compact SUV. But when you add an existing plug-in hybrid drivetrain, you get the 2023 Outlander PHEV SEL S-AWC.
This week we talk about our experience with the Outlander PHEV, which we rented from Mitsubishi. In some ways, it’s an improvement over the current conventionally powered Outlander—and far better than the previous-generation Outlander PHEV. But there are some places where it’s a letdown. Watch or listen to find out.
Audience question: We answer a question from an EV owner who wants to buy a car to use for long-distance travel because he’s concerned about charging his EV during trips.
