In this step-by-step makeup tutorial of a simple but oh-so effective Halloween look, we show you (with the help of magic MAC Senior Artist Debbie Finnegan) how to create fake blood tears using makeup. Follow the tips to nail the look yourself for Fright Night. Happy Halloween!
Step 1
First prep with a light moisturiser on clean skin and no lip balm as it will make the makeup slip. Apply a light layer of MAC White Face & Body Foundation in White to lighten and brighten the complexion. Use a light concealer where necessary and MAC Invisible Powder to matte everything down. Next sculpt your cheeks with a grey eye shadow like MAC Copperplate – which is also good for filling in your brows.

MAC Set Powder, £24.50
MAC Copperplate, £13.50
Step 2
With a fluffy blending brush use the same eye shadow that you use on your cheeks around the socket of the eyes, on the lower lash lines and inner corners to 'hollow' them out.
Step 3
Apply lots of black eye pencil like MAC Kohl Pencil in Smoulder all the way around the eyes - top and bottom - for intense definition.

Step 4
Apply some false lashes to the top lash line. We used MAC No 3 Lashes.
MAC No 3 Lashes, £11.50
Step 5
Thickly apply waterproof gel eyeliner like MAC Blacktrack Fluid Line underneath the lower lash line.
MAC Blacktrack Fluid Line, £16
Step 6
Roughly mix some MAC PRO Acrylic Paints in Basic Red and Black Black on a clean surface and apply it using a cotton bud to create tear drops. This will dry and set to be smudge-proof.
MAC PRO Acrylic Paints in Basic Red and Black Black, £16.50 each
Step 7
Create a grey lip colour by mixing the MAC Lip Mix shades in Black and White together on a clean surface and apply with a lip brush.
MAC Lip Mix, £15.50
