How to Make an Apple Cider Vinegar Fly Trap
If you have a fruit fly problem, it’s time to get rid of them! Read about the 6 steps to getting rid of fruit flies in your house. One way to prevent them is to wash all your fruit as soon as you get home so no eggs can hatch. They can be so annoying and gross in the kitchen. You probably have all the materials you need right in the pantry to get rid of them! This home remedy always works on fruit flies in the summer for me. Using scotch or whiskey works just as well.
I have also found that by just putting an inch of apple cider vinegar in a glass then squirting a tiny bit of dawn power spray in mixed works fantastic. No need to even add the saran wrap, they just fly in and get stuck to die. I hide mine behind my fruit bowl as the smell can kind of get potent!
Homemade Fruit Fly Trap
Materials
- Cup/Glass
- Apple Cider Vinegar
- 1/2 tsp Dish soap
Instructions
- Fill your cup with an inch of apple cider vinegar then add in 1/2 teaspoon of dish soap. Stir it up.
- Cover the top of the cup with plastic wrap and wrap a rubberband around the edge so it stays.
- Take a toothpick or knife and make small holes all over the top.
- Place next to fruit on the counter. Watch them fly in and die!
Here are two more fruit fly traps to make using a “funnel” approach where the fruit flies will try to fly up to the highest point and never figure out that the bottom middle is completely open!
