As temperatures across the UK plummet... one of our kind customers has been engineering new homes for stray cats, using our EPS insulating boxes.

Polystyrene is one of the most efficient and cost effective ways of insulating on the market and Chris took full advantage of these properties, by incorporating our 54 Litre HoCo Box into the design for his cat shelter.

Chris kindly sent us some photos of the build:




Chris began modifying the moulded box, by marking and cutting out an entrance and adding some extra duct tape, to give a bit more support.




The EPS box was then placed inside a cardboard outer and lined with thick rubble sacks, to protect the cardboard from the elements.




Chris then used straw (also a great insulator), to line both the cardboard box and the EPS box, to give extra warmth.




Once the shelter was all sealed up, it was time to get the feline seal of approval.

And the verdict is...



A resounding 2 paws up from the pussycat!

Chris reported that despite temperatures outside dropping to -5°C, inside the shelter it was a cosy 15°C and the cat emerged, looking very warm and happy!
