A body has been found in the search for a missing pensioner who vanished earlier this week.

Officers from Police Scotland confirmed a body was discovered near Townhill Loch in Dunfermline on Thursday morning. Formal identification is yet to take place, however officers have informed the family of Norma Sinclair.

The 71-year-old was reported missing on Tuesday, January 7, as temperatures in the Fife area dropped below freezing overnight. The death is not being treated as suspicious.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 11.30am on Thursday, 9 January 2024, we were made aware of a body found near to Townhill Loch, Dunfermline. Formal identification has still to take place however the family of Norma Sinclair, 71, has been informed.

"The death is not believed to be suspicious. A report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal. We thank the public and partner agencies for their assistance in the search for Norma."
