The so-called son of God died on the cross after suffering the so-called Five Holy Wounds – with his hands and feet both pierced by nails and being stabbed in the side with the legendary Spear of Destiny.
Blood poured from Christ’s right side in the final end to his torment on the cross, according to the Bible.
Relics claiming to be the blade have been passed around for centuries and there have long been claims about the weapon’s supposed magical powers.
The legendary object is regarded as one history's holiest items along with the mythical Holy Grail lusted after by the Knights Templar.
But cutting through the myth and legend, the Spear of Destiny – also known as the Holy Lance – could be real, Daily Star Online can reveal.
Myth claims the weapon has been instrumental in toppling empires and is alleged to have passed down between rulers and generals such as Charlemagne and Adolf Hitler.
Legend states that the spear was wielded by roman centurion Longinus, who thrust it into Jesus’s side on the mount in Calvary.
Christian stories claim Longinus was blind and the blood of Jesus went in his eyes – miraculously healing him.

His spear is claimed to have ended up in the hands of the Holy Roman Empire – who used it in the coronation ceremonies of the emperors as earlier as the 13th century.
This weapon is now on display in Hofburg Palace in Vienna.
The spear is black and golden blade built around a spike which was allegedly used to nail Jesus to the cross.
Tests proved the core of the spear dates back to the time of Christ – while the surrounding gold and metalwork is closer in age to the 7th century.
History records this so-called Holy Lance was used as a ceremonial item of the Holy Roman Empire along with a golden crown and the giant Imperial cross.
This spear is claimed to hold magic powers – with believers claiming as soon as the holder of the weapon loses the blade, they die.
Charlemagne, King of the Franks from the 8th century, is claimed to have carried the spear into 47 battles – dying as soon as he dropped the relic.

It was also claimed the French emperor Napoleon was hunting the spear – but never managed to be obtain it.
Stories even swirl about the spear's alleged links to Adolf Hitler – who is claimed in modern myth to have seized its resting place in Austria after becoming obsessed with the blade.
Historian Sean Munger, who hosts the Second Decade podcast on iTunes, spoke to Daily Star Online about the Spear of Destiny.
The expert told this website it is extremely difficult to directly link items straight back to Jesus Christ due to their age and constant historical hearsay.
Finding an item that can be directly and accurately linked to Jesus is described to be the “jackpot” for archaeologists by Mr Munger.
Mr Munger said: “Artifacts stretching back that far have no reliable chain of custody, and the sources surrounding them are either unreliable, nonexistent or contradictory.
“It's different than, say, the tomb of Tutankhamen, about which there were reliable records written down at the time that survived into the 20th century, which even identified the general area where the tomb was located, and lo and behold it is discovered in that exact area having been undisturbed for 3,000 years.”
He explains how the Holy Roman Empire could have created the Hofburg Spear in order to gain “legitimacy” in the eyes of the Medieval world as rival powers Byzantium and Persia fought over a piece “True Cross”.
The historian said: “It makes sense the Holy Roman Empire would want to have some relics in their stable too.
“People in the Middle Ages and even more modern times often did believe that holy relics could work miracles, like curing sickness and such; the Holy Roman Emperors might have shared this belief.”
Munger adds there are other objects which are associated with the being used to pierce the side of Christ.
He explains throughout the Middle Ages there was an outbreak of “pious fraud” with crooks selling fake relics claimed to associated with Jesus.
It has been claimed the Vatican may preserve a Holy Lance beneath Saint Peter’s Basilica in Rome, a spearhead on display in a museum in Vagharshapat, Armenia, and claims crusaders discovered the lance buried beneath the city of Antioch.
Daily Star Online previously revealed an ancient lost gospel which disputes that Jesus died on the cross.
As for the spear’s central “nail” core which some believers have claimed to be out of the original spikes which held Jesus on the cross, Mr Munger remains sceptical.
He said points to huge numbers of “pious fraud" fakes created throughout history all boasted to be genuine objects owned by or related to Christ.
He said: “Honestly, it's about money. In the Middle Ages and even later, a church that possessed an artifact that could be claimed to be a "relic" was financially better situated than one that did not.
“This is because it means that pilgrims would come to that town, and that church, to gaze in wonder at something like the foreskin of Christ.
“Yes, there was a relic that was claimed to be that.”
But he remained further biblical era artefacts may be discovered, but admitted it is “extremely unlikely” for direct items associated with Christ to be found.
Mr Munger said: “People have been extremely motivated to search for Christ-related artifacts and objects for 2,000 years, and the places where Christ lived and preached aren't that big. Everything that is possible to find was already found long ago.
“Nevertheless, some amazing Biblical-era discoveries have been made in recent times, like the Dead Sea Scrolls in 1949,”
