England ace Cole Palmer has sparked a surge in Paddington Bear style duffle coats.

The footballer is the new face of fashion house Burberry - and the £2,500 duffle coat he models is selling like hot cakes. The Chelsea star has been signed to be one of the faces of the English firm’s new range of clobber - alongside Oscar-winning film star Olivia Colman.

And the down-to-earth former Euro 2024 hero’s first jaunt in the world of pricey high fashion is proving a hit with buyers with cash to burn. Cole features in a video for Burberry wearing the toggled garment, which is also loved by Paddington Bear who sports a blue version.

And the campaign is already netting results for Burberry. Just days after the new range was launched, the ‘bramble’ cashmere and wool coat has sold out.

Burberry has launched the new campaign titled “It’s Always Burberry Weather,” featuring a star-studded line up that also includes fellow England footballer Eberechi Eze, along with actor and Manchester United fan Barry Keoghan.

Alongside Palmer, Eze, Keoghan, and Colman, the campaign features high-profile figures like BAFTA-winning actor Zhang Jingyi, model Cara Delevingne and BRIT Award-winning musician Simz.

Daniel Lee, Chief Creative Officer at Burberry, said the campaign encapsulates the spirit of the campaign by emphasising the brand’s dedication to protection, functionality, and the outdoors.

He said: “We are always inspired by our archive and the innovation and creativity of the brand. The campaign promotes the house’s silhouettes: protective and enduring.”

Football fanatics flooded the video's YouTube comment section with appreciation for Palmer and his style. In it, he sits on a camping chair for nine minutes in complete silence. He appears to be fishing next to a picturesque river.

Despite it's mundane nature, several people were blown away. One user wrote: "We are waiting for the 24-hour version." While another avid fan penned: "The water slowly freezing in his presence," in reference to his ice-cool demeanour.

"Probably the best advert I have ever seen in my life. Will watch again to confirm," noted a third.
