The PSN servers have been down for around 6 hours, with PS4 and PS5 players unable to access multiplayer and some single player games, and Sony is yet to comment on the outage

PlayStation users are fuming over the ongoing PSN outage that is hindering their ability to launch both single and multiplayer games on their consoles.

Sony remains tight-lipped about its PSN servers being offline for approximately six hours, at the time of writing. The services currently affected include Account Management, Gaming and Social, PlayStation Video, and PlayStation Store.

The only PSN service still operational at this moment is PlayStation Direct, so if you fancy purchasing an exorbitantly priced PS5 Pro while Sony scrambles to rectify the PSN outage without communicating with its PS4 and PS5 owner base, then you're in luck.

Interestingly, Bethesda has acknowledged that PSN is down, using its @BethesdaSupport Twitter account to inform players of The Elder Scrolls Online and Fallout 76 on PlayStation about the PSN outage, and advising them to monitor the official PSN status page.

DownDetector indicates reports of the PSN outage starting around 1am BST on Tuesday, October 1, which equates to 8pm EDT / 5pm PDT on Monday, September 30 for players in the US.

The PSN outage has affected various platforms including PS Vita, PS3, PS4, PS5, Web, and "Other", which could possibly refer to the PS App. At present, my own system is proving rather uncooperative, presumably due to the PSN outage rather than an unstable internet connection, reports the Mirror.
