Emmerdale's Georgia Jay has dropped some juicy spoilers about her character Stephanie Miligan's (played by Georgia Jay) arrival in the village, hinting at a sizzling romance that is certain to ruffle feathers. The actress revealed that Steph's estranged dad Caleb (William Ash) is less than thrilled with her choice of local lads.
Steph's comeback coincides with her being named in Helen Fox's (Sharon Maughan) will after her recent passing, but it seems inheritance isn't the only thing on her mind.
Chatting with the Daily Star, Georgia explains her character is in for an unhappy family reunion: "She comes back into the village, I think it has been a decade or so, and there's some conflict between mum Ruby and Caleb.
"I can't say too much about it, but it is an exciting storyline to be coming into, the past will be revealed of why she hasn't been in the picture for so long."
Georgia added: "I can say when she sees dad and mum for the first time, she's not there to stay - it's more 'I want something then I'm going to leave'. She wants nothing to do with [it], and just wants to get the money and go," reports Leicestershire Live.
The actress also let slip that Steph's love life heats up with village bad boy Ross Barton (Michael Parr), stirring up drama as their budding relationship instantly gets under Caleb's skin, who disapproves of their fling.
Georgia spilled the beans on her character's fiery romance, saying: "There's a lot of fun in that relationship, I think coming from the dismissive and coldness she is going through with her parents, she won't let them off the hook easy."
She elaborated on the tension, adding: "It's one of those things where you're so angry and hurt, that you want to hurt them back."
The actress then dished on the sparks flying between her character and Ross: "So with Ross, she has that very playful chemistry with him straight up and I think her confidence, sense of humour, and very quick-wit with him does shock him a little bit."
She teased fans further by saying: "He's never had the kind of woman who is in charge, it's a really fun dynamic between them. I don't know where it's going but they definitely have good chemistry when they are together."
Despite Steph not aiming to use Ross as a weapon against her folks, Georgia revealed Caleb's perspective: "Although it's not Steph's intention to get involved with Ross to wind up her parents, Caleb will see it as a 'dagger'."
She continued: "Caleb doesn't enjoy it when he sees us leaving the BandB together. He's not too happy about that, and that Steph up as he tries to stick his nose in."
Beth Cordingly, who portrays Ruby, chimed in with her take on the drama: "To be fair, Ruby is pretty cool in that scenario, like a cool mum, she's in her 30s, let her do it. She is a grown woman, let her do what she wants, which probably isn't helpful."
William, playing Caleb, weighed in on his character's stance: "It's his reputation. Caleb doesn't think Ross is good enough for her", to which Beth cheekily added: "You will enjoy watching Caleb getting wound up by it!"
Emmerdale airs weeknights on ITV1 and ITVX at 7.30pm.
