NFL star Travis Kelce, who is currently dating pop sensation Taylor Swift, is reportedly set to make his Hollywood debut in a new comedy titled Loose Cannons from the producers of John Wick.
According to Deadline, the Kansas City Chiefs tight end is attached to star in the upcoming Lionsgate action comedy, which is still in its development stages.
The script has been written by Pixels scribe Timothy Dowling, with John Wick's Chad Stahelski on board as producer through 87Eleven Entertainment, alongside Alex Young and Jason Spitz. The film's premise revolves around every police precinct having a wild, rule-breaking officer, and instead of pairing them with a more disciplined partner, two such officers are forced together following a precinct merger.
As per The Hollywood Reporter, the movie will have elements reminiscent of classic buddy action comedies like Bad Boys, Lethal Weapon and Rush Hour.
Kelce is soon set to make an appearance in Ryan Murphy's new horror drama 'Grostesquerie', which will hit FX screens this September, delving into a community shaken by vile crimes. He joins forces with Niecy Nash-Betts, Lesley Manville, and Courtney B. Vance in the project.
He's also bagged the gig of hosting Amazon Prime Video's Are You Smarter Than A Celebrity?, and is flexing his production muscles as executive producer for the upcoming dark comedy My Dead Friend Zoe. Back in 2020, Kelce popped up in an episode of Showtime's Moonbase 8, and just last year, he took the reins for an episode of Saturday Night Live. And who could forget his own quest for romance on Catching Kelce?
The reality show had him sifting through 50 women - one from each US state - all vying for his affection (and a bit of cash). Kelce confessed the show came about due to money struggles at the time. "There were times in the offseason, I was avoiding the rent lady. It was that bad," he confessed.
He even joked about the seven-part series while hosting SNL last March, calling it "kind of like The Bachelor, except instead of roses, I handed out footballs, and instead of watching, people did not."
Kelce and Catching Kelce winner Maya Benberry started dating after the show wrapped in April 2016, but their romance fizzled out pretty quick, with Benberry announcing their split in January 2017. Kelce was then in a relationship with social media influencer Kayla Nicole Brown from 2017 to 2022 before meeting Swift the following year. He confessed on his podcast that he attended one of her Eras Tour dates hoping to give her his phone number.
The NFL star recently flaunted his acting chops when he joined Swift on stage during The Eras Tour at Wembley Stadium in June. Dressed in a suit, he briefly participated in the choreography for The Tortured Poets Department segment of the three and a half hour-long show, causing fans to go wild.
Catching Kelce is available to watch in the UK with an Apple TV subscription or a Hayu subscription via Amazon Prime.
