Keep reading for all of our tips on how to make this maple butter completely your own:
How to make maple butter (& variations):
This 3-ingredient recipe couldn’t be easier to make: all you need to do is whisk softened butter with maple syrup and cinnamon until thoroughly blended and smooth. While we love this simple, classic version, this is a great base to create whatever wild compound butter combo your heart desires. If you’d like, you can swap the cinnamon for nutmeg or even ground allspice for an extra bit of warmth.
Looking for more ways to get creative with this butter? Here are some of our favorite variations:
— Spicy maple butter. Swap 1 tablespoon maple syrup for 1 tablespoon of your favorite hot sauce.
— Almond maple butter. Add 1/2 teaspoon almond extract.
— Orange maple butter. Add 1/2 teaspoon finely grated orange zest.
What to eat with maple butter:
This sweet butter is classic spread on biscuits (or sweet potato biscuits), pancakes, cornbread, and pumpkin bread. That being said, your options don’t stop there. Spread this salty-sweet magic onto a baked sweet potato, grilled carrots, or a crispy chicken sandwich.
How long does maple butter last?
Maple butter will keep in the refrigerator stored in an airtight container for 3 months or for up to 1 year in the freezer. If freezing, use an ice cream or cookie scoop to make smaller portions for easy defrosting.
