Looks like Parker from Gold Rush is really chasing the crumbs now.    I can't remember who it was but someone told me they bumped into Parker here not too long ago.    I love how they say NZ is the land of Big Gold ?

Obviously his biggest mistake was not asking me for advice.

After closing out an epic $15 million Yukon season, Parker has rolled the dice yet again, putting down nearly $200,000 of his own gold on a Fairbanks property in his home state of Alaska. There’s a huge profit to be made on the ground, but he’ll need to find specialty equipment to process the clay-rich ground before he can obtain any of it. It’s a state-of-the-art wash plant that he’s in need of… and he’s going to travel around the globe to find it.  

Parker believes New Zealand is the only other place in the world with the engineering prowess to give him any real chance of a massive Alaskan payday. Home to some of the most forward-thinking miners, Parker and his crew quickly learn this remote island is chalk full of high-risks, tough environments, and secretive Kiwi mining communities who aren’t so quick to lend a helping hand to a fellow competitor.

A journey that’s as epic as it is high-risk, Parker and his crew find adventure at every turn as they explore all that this land has to offer. Whether scaling the Franz Josef Glacier to find the source of New Zealand’s famous West Coast Gold or undertaking a hair-raising jet boat trip down the Kokatahi River, Parker’s biggest test of all will be facing his fears with a gold prospecting dive through shark infested waters.

I heard a rumor that the only reason Parker went to new Zealand was to try and find a phone that a girl he had a secret affair with thought she lost it while on a ski lift a couple of years ago, but he decided to search the entire island after failing to find the phone after searching all the ski lifts in the country, the rumor also stated the phone is reported to have pictures of Parker naked rolling in gold dust and he's trying to protect the people of New Zealand from going blind if they happen to find the phone and view the photos!!

I'm lmao. Great post. I'm always amazed at the life and death scenarios when they they are running excavators. I run excavators for a living and didn't know how much I was living on the edge!

I'm am jealous of Parkers gold hunting trips. If he can make money on this, good for him! And searching for a lost phone that belongs to a girl on a ski trip makes perfect sense in my world.

Do they make a detector that's good to ten meters in the snow?

I refuse to watch these shows; they cast miners and mining in a bad light and give fuel to the anti-mining nuts.

A real prospecting show would be "The escapades of Klunker and Sourdough Scott" where in this episode Klunker hides SS's pick under his detector bag behind the truck. Then SS searches frantically through the truck bed knowing darn well he put it in the truck, while Klunker stands back grinning like a possum.
