“GEPRIS Historisch” is the DFG’s comprehensive information portal dedicated to the history of research and also the DFG itself between 1920 and 1945.
The online content comprises approximately 50,000 approved and rejected funding proposals submitted by more than 13,000 applicants. The portal is based on data that the historian Sören Flachowsky from Berlin identified in the context of his DFG-funded research group. Between 2006 and 2012, thousands of records from the Federal Archive and other sources were analysed for this purpose. Further sources were used by the DFG staff to enrich this data. Users of the system are invited to explore. The topic pages about various aspects of early funding activities are a good starting point. The information system is in German.
