Apple TV+ has released the first trailer for Anya Taylor-Joy's new thriller The Gorge, as well as confirming a release date on the streaming service for Valentine's Day next year.
Directed by The Black Phone's Scott Derrickson, The Gorge stars Taylor-Joy as Drasa, a sniper tasked with providing cover for a mysterious gorge alongside Miles Teller's Levi.
"Two highly-trained operatives are appointed to posts in guard towers on opposite sides of a vast and highly classified gorge, protecting the world from an undisclosed, mysterious evil that lurks within," reads the synopsis.

"They bond from a distance while trying to stay vigilant in defending against an unseen enemy. When the cataclysmic threat to humanity is revealed to them, they must work together in a test of both their physical and mental strength to keep the secret in the gorge before it’s too late."
Per the trailer, the thriller sees Taylor-Joy, who is rocking a new hairdo, set off on her new mission which she says will require her to "go dark" for a year.
"I have new orders that require me to go dark for at least a year. Maybe more," she says before a helicopter flies her to her "special assignment in an undisclosed location".

Also starring in the film, which sees Zach Dean take on writing duties, is Sigourney Weaver, who makes a brief appearance in the trailer.
As the trailer shows, Drasa and Levi have no contact with the outside world and are forbidden to communicate with each other from their respective towers. The pair are tasked with stopping what is in the gorge, which is described as "the door to Hell," from getting out.
However, affections start to bloom as they use binoculars and written notes to communicate with each other, before disaster sees them plunge into the gorge and come within touching distance. But will they both make it out alive?
The Gorge will be available to stream on Apple TV+ from February 14, 2025.
