Spending your days working in the warm Caribbean sunshine rather than the cold, rainy UK sounds like a dream, so when Ben Miller quit Death in Paradise, we were all pretty confused.
Well, he's now spilled the reason for leaving a dream job and it was all because he was about to become a new dad and wanted to make sure he saved his relationship.
"Two weeks after I arrived in the Caribbean, Jessica found out that she was pregnant," he told Radio Times.
"I've just got divorced and I've finally met somebody and now I'm on the other side of the world and we're having a baby. That's a proper curveball to be on the end of.
"There was a period of 18 months when I was only in the country for six months and in the Caribbean for a year.
"Absolutely amazing, but I thought, 'I've just messed up one marriage, I don't want to mess this up as well'. So I knew what I had to do to get my wife back - quit Death in Paradise!"
The actor was replaced by My Family's Kris Marshall after three series, who is currently heading up the force on the beautiful - but deadly - fictional island of Saint-Marie.
"But it's all worked out fine - Kris is great, [executive producer] Tony Jordan is still speaking to me and [creator] Rob Thorogood isn't," Miller joked, "but what can you do?"
Death in Paradise airs on BBC One.
