Anthony T. (Tony) Limpe, resident of Greenwich since 1984, passed away on Monday, September 14th, 2015. Beloved husband, father and grandfather, Tony was born in Manila, Philippines on July 18, 1934, the son of James and Juana Teh Limpe. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Emily Ting Limpe, his son Stephen, daughter-in-law Tracy, and granddaughters Emily and Alexandra.
Tony came to the US in 1952 to attend Purdue University, graduating in 1956 with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering. In 1957, he was married to Emily Ting and joined Combustion Engineering. Tony attended school in the evenings and received his Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Brooklyn Polytechnic. In 1962, Tony and Emily settled in Ardsley, NY with their two-year old son, and Tony joined Petro-Chem Development as estimating engineer. Over the next two decades, he worked his way up to General Manager and Emily joined him as VP at the company. Tony purchased the company in 1985 from Midland Ross Corporation, serving as Chairman and CEO until his son Stephen took over as President and CEO in 2003. He remained Chairman until the company’s sale to Heurtey Petrochem, a publicly traded French engineering company, in 2008.
Tony most enjoyed spending time with family, working outdoors, enjoying culture and travel with his wife Emily, and playing golf and tennis with friends. He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him.
A “celebration of life” service will be held in Tony’s honor at 11:00 am on Thursday, September 24th, at Indian Harbor Yacht Club, 710 Steamboat Road in Greenwich.
