About our Program
The D Magazine Partners internship program offers various internships during the fall, spring, and summer semesters. During the semester, you’ll gain real-world media industry experience at one of the nation’s best city magazines. Each internship position is a different learning experience that our staff treats as a road map for your future career endeavors.
All interns are required to attend monthly program workshops during their internship. Our internship program is highly competitive and interns are held to a high standard. Qualified candidates for our program must be able to work under demanding deadlines in a fast-paced environment and possess excellent computer, communication, and organizational skills.
About us
Need to know
Our internship program provides opportunities to explore potential careers and build resumes. You must be at least 18 years old and currently enrolled in a college program to apply. The unpaid program is eligible for college credit in select university programs. Candidates must be available to work 12 to 24 hours a week and commit to the full term of the semester. Please check with your academic advisor regarding your school’s college credit program to see if our program is a fit for you. Our program and hiring managers will work directly with interns to ensure university requirements are being met.
We reimburse interns for expenses related to the internship (mileage once at the office for work-related projects and parking).
The D Editorial internship is the only program that requires you to be in the office. All other applicants will discuss requirements with their manager and establish a hybrid schedule.

Spring 2025 Internship Program
Applications will open on Friday, October 10. The program will run from Wednesday, January 22 through Wednesday, April 16.
Summer 2025 Internship Program
Applications will open on Friday, January 24, and close on Friday, May 9. The program will run from Wednesday, May 21 through Wednesday, August 13.
Fall Intern Workshops
Media 101: D Magazine Partners is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year. Christine Allison, our CEO, and Editor-in-Chief, presents a high-level view of D from its start in 1974 to the present day, with an interactive discussion about how the world has changed and how the company has changed to meet the needs of our readers. You’ll get the backstory on the power of the D brand, and why trust will be our most precious asset as we head into the next fifty years.
Interviewing 101: A good interview is about balancing curiosity, preparation, and listening in the moment. This session will discuss what makes for a strong interview and what mistakes to avoid.
Sales 101: An essential introduction to sales techniques and strategies fundamentals. Participants will learn key concepts such as prospecting, rapport-building, and effective closing methods. The workshop includes practical exercises and scenarios to help attendees apply what they’ve learned in real-world situations. Additionally, it covers the importance of understanding customer needs and tailoring sales approaches accordingly.
Resume Building 101: As we live in the digital age our online presence can proceed with our physical or job application. In this workshop, you will be guided through LinkedIn analytics with tips and tricks to being noticed. A physical resume is equally as important as it provides the most in-depth perspective to your achievements, projects, and passions. You will walk away with a new paper resume and key insights to improving your LinkedIn profile.

Advertising/Marketing Internships
People Newspapers Advertising & Marketing Intern
Our community newspaper’s advertising team is looking for an enthusiastic self-starter who can put the client’s needs first. As an intern in the advertising department, you will gain first-hand experience in the industry by working alongside our publisher and advertising executives on client services and business development initiatives for Park Cities People and Preston Hollow People. This internship works on marketing and branding for special sections and event sponsorship opportunities. Opportunities for this position include: attending planning meetings and networking events, accompanying staff during research and prospective client meetings, and helping maintain client relationships. Qualified candidates should have a background in advertising, marketing, or corporate communications and an interest in client services and account management. Ideal for Interns interested in event planning, promotions, and media marketing, an ideal applicant will be detail-oriented, creative, organized, and self-motivated. With this internship you will observe and assist with planning and executing events, data entry, research, mailings, and promotional materials. You must be willing to dedicate office hours as well as weekend or holiday hours to assist during events.
Responsibilities include monthly mailers, updating account information, follow up calls, production instructions, and learning about the sales process, as well as all of the steps taken to put every issue together.
D Magazine Partners Events Intern
The magazine’s marketing department is looking for interns interested in event planning, promotions, and media marketing. An ideal applicant will be detail-oriented, creative, organized, and self-motivated. As a marketing intern you will observe, plan, and execute events, assist with data entry, research, mailings, and promotional materials. Interns will gain hands-on experience in a dynamic and fast-paced sales and marketing environment. Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite is a plus. You must be willing to dedicate office hours as well as evenings to assist on the execution events.
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, assisting in the planning and execution of marketing events, creating event photo galleries for the D Magazine website, and assisting the Marketing Events team in procuring event materials as well as brainstorming new and innovative event ideas.
D Magazine Partners Marketing Intern
The D Magazine Partners Marketing team is looking for an enthusiastic self-starter to support the team in daily administrative tasks. Join the only team that works on all four publications: D Magazine, D CEO, D Home, and D Weddings. The ideal candidate will assist the Marketing Manager with a wide variety of projects including copywriting, sorting through event photography, and research. Exceptional communication, and team-driven abilities required.
Art/Production Internships
D Magazine Partners Art/Production Intern
Get some hands-on experience understanding what makes our magazines print so well. This is a great opportunity for practical experience along with some samples for your portfolio.
You will work closely with the production team on management of magazine assets, color correction, processing ads and editorial layouts, and pre-press. This is a great opportunity for a designer to see how it takes more than a good eye to get the job done.
Interns will assist in photo retouching, ad design, uploading layouts to the D Magazine website, building magazine dummies, and more. Excellent computer skills and knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite is required; WordPress experience is a plus.
People Newspapers, Art/Production Intern
The ideal candidate will assist the Production Manager and other personnel with a wide variety of projects including newspaper layout, website management, and photography. Exceptional communication and team-driven abilities required. Must have a strong background working with Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, etc. WordPress experience is a plus.
Responsibilities include actively contributing to our print and online products, assisting production and other departments with web content and maintenance, and photographing various events within our community.
Editorial/Journalism Internships
D Magazine Editorial Intern
If glossy magazines give you a thrill, this is the internship for you. D Magazine editorial interns are smart, reliable, detail-oriented, talented, and curious. We’re looking for good writers and reporters who aren’t afraid to pick up the phone. Interns work closely with print staff to make every issue as perfect as possible, and primary responsibilities include fact-checking articles, covering local events, blogging, and working on projects for other departments and publications as availability and interest permits. Especially successful candidates will have an interest in pitching and writing for the front of the book section. You’ll discover the glamorous—and sometimes not-so-glamorous—side of publishing, and gain tons of real-world magazine experience along the way.
Responsibilities include fact checking for various issues, writing for online and print, helping with special projects, and research/contributions to the Best of Big D issue, among others.
D Magazine Online Editorial Intern
You will write about the news and subjects that have Dallas talking for dmagazine.com. You’ll be encouraged and prodded to develop and pitch your own stories, but we have plenty of ideas to get you started. We cover a little bit of everything, with room for short news pieces, long features, funny columns, and anything else that fits with our editorial voice and coverage. You will get plenty of published clips to show your journalism professors/prospective future employers, and will learn about the new dynamics of digital media.
Responsibilities include writing stories on any number of subjects, working on one longer feature story, and helping with various projects/story assignments as needed.
D CEO Editorial Intern
Are you looking for real-world journalism experience? Do you follow multiple news sources daily? Do you want to learn about the fast-paced world of business journalism and collect bylines at the same time? The award-winning business division of D Magazine Partners—which includes D CEO (print and online), D CEO Real Estate, D CEO Healthcare, the Dallas 500, and D Real Estate Annual—is looking for talented, organized, and committed interns. You will have the opportunity to build your portfolio and resume by writing magazine stories for print, as well as online news reports covering a variety of industries. You’ll also gain invaluable fact-checking and proofreading experience, perform editorial research, attend issue planning meetings, and work on other editorial tasks.
Responsibilities include online coverage via D CEO Healthcare, D CEO Real Estate, and D CEO, print stories, as well as copy editing.
D Home & D Weddings Editorial Intern
We need an energetic, smart, organized, reliable, and creative intern with an interest (or experience) in design, fashion, and weddings. If you have an interest in blogging, even better. The intern’s primary responsibilities include: writing, pitching ideas, and taking photos for our two blogs; fact-checking copy for our magazines; uploading events and trunk shows to the events section of the website; picking up and dropping off items for photo shoots; assisting editors with photo shoots; and writing small blurbs and entries for our magazines. There is a good amount of fact-checking, so the intern must be comfortable with making phone calls.
Responsibilities include fact checking for both D Home and D Weddings print products, interviewing brides and writing wedding and engagement posts for the website, researching and executing new blog post ideas, and performing research projects as needed.
People Newspapers Editorial Intern
People Newspapers is looking for interns willing to juggle multiple assignments and take responsibility for a variety of projects, including editing police blotters, proofreading, writing blog posts, pitching story ideas, and writing stories. We need applicants with a love for the AP Stylebook and a desire to learn what makes a community special. In addition to the editorial side of things, you will help promote our brand through social media strategies, looking for potential clients, and maintaining existing client relationships. You will attend a variety of Dallas society events, so you must be outgoing and respect social etiquette.
Responsibilities include writing articles as well as blog and social media posts, researching stories, fact checking, coming up with story ideas, and making deadlines. Interns represent the newspapers at Dallas society events and on story assignments, assist with special events, conduct interviews, and sometimes take photographs.
