Today is National Grouch Day.
If you're one of those people who thinks, "Oh bother. First, National Talk Like a Pirate Day and now this, another made up holiday for people with too much time to celebrate? What's next?!" then this one is for you!
Sesame Street magazine first declared Oct.15 as National Grouch Day, inspired by the grouchiest of grouches, Oscar the Grouch.
"A Grouch's mission in life is to be as miserable and grouchy as possible, and pass that feeling on to everyone else. Only then will a Grouch feel in touch with his or her world and be happy," Muppetedia explains.
It continues, "Even though a Grouch may show happiness at anyone's misfortune (including his or her own), a Grouch would never admit to being happy. Such is the stability of a Grouch's life: so balanced, and yet so unbalanced."
If you're a bit confused, we compiled a helpful GIF post to show you how to celebrate.
Step 1: Don't celebrate.
That's it.
Seriously, don't celebrate. Grouches hate celebrating.
Stop it. We see you wanting to celebrate. No celebrating. Not even a little.
Just listen to the Grouch Anthem...
...and tell anyone who wishes you a Happy National Grouch Day to go $!%@ themselves.
