A local pub described as 'cosy and friendly' has won a local Pub of the Year award by CAMRA, the Campaign for Real Ale. The Endeavour, on Springfield Road in Chelmsford, has been given the prestigious award for the Chelmsford & Mid-Essex area.
The local pub is described as a "cosy and friendly community pub" that serves home-cooked meals as well as hosting a range of events. The pub also puts on mini beer festivals, 'tap takeovers' and hosts regular charity events.
The Endeavour was taken over by Naomi Hammett along with her dad Guy in November 2021. The pair already had 10 years of experience working in award-winning pubs in Chelmsford, and are now bringing recognition to Springfield.

Two runners-up pubs have also announced for this year. The Compasses in Littley Green has received one of the awards, while the Hop Beer Shop on Moulsham Street was awarded the other prize.
In the coming months, the county and regional awards will also be announced. Norman Robinson, CAMRA branch chair said: “This is my first year as Chair of the branch and I am delighted to award our coveted POTY to Naomi at The Endeavour.
"The Chelmsford area is fortunate in having many excellent pubs selling real ales and ciders and there is always strong competition to receive our award and then to go onto potentially be judged nationwide. I wish Naomi the very best.”
