Comprised of inspirational role models, our players are drawn from across the World, as well as young players from the Basketball England talent pathway.
Womens team.
The women’s senior team entered the Basketball England National League for the first time in the 2015-16 season as the Essex Blades. The team won the National Cup final at the EIS in Sheffield in that first season in dramatic fashion, coming from behind to score the winning basket with the final score of the game. The team went on to win the Division One title in 2017-18, losing just one game in the whole season.
Following that successful season, the team moved from the NBL to the women’s professional league in the 2018/2019 season, becoming the 12th team in the Women’s British Basketball League.
The Essex Rebels are now in their sixth season in the Women’s British Basketball League, and have clinched a Playoff spot every season since 2020/2021.
In the ongoing 2023/2024 season, the team as achieved a significant milestone by making it to their inaugural major final, the Women’s British Basketball League Trophy Final in Birmingham. The Rebels secured the runner-up position in the Trophy Final, marking a commendable achievement in their journey.

Rebels Men in the SLB Cup! 🏀
We’re excited to announce that our NBL Division 1 Essex Rebels have been invited to compete in the SLB Cup alongside 7 top NBL and Irish Super League teams! In the first round, we’ll face Bristol Flyers on Friday, 13 December at 7.30 PM at the Essex Sport Arena.
This is a huge cross-league match, and we need your support to make it a night to remember. Let’s pack the arena and show what we’re all about!

D1 Essex Rebels vs Bristol Hurricanes
Join us at the Essex Sport Arena on Thursday, 14 December, at 6.30pm as the Essex Rebels D1 Men face off against the Bristol Hurricanes, one of the top teams in the league.
With the Hurricanes sitting in the top 4 of the standings, this promises to be a high-stakes matchup as our Rebels look to make their mark.
The night before, the Rebels take on the Bristol Flyers in the SLB Cup. Let’s keep the support going and back the team for this key NBL regular-season clash.

Rebels Christmas Special
It’s time for the annual Essex Rebels Christmas Special! Celebrate the holidays with us at the Essex Sport Arena on Saturday, 21 December, for a festive basketball tripleheader and our final home games of 2024!
The action starts at 1.00pm with the D2 Essex Rebels taking on the London Elite. Then at 4.00 pm, the SLB Essex Rebels will face the London Lions, before the day wraps up with the D1 Essex Rebels going head-to-head with the Loughborough Riders at 6.30 pm.
We’ve got a full day of festive fun planned! Enjoy Christmas songs, join in on the Ugly Christmas Jumper Competition with prizes to be won, and treat yourself to some seasonal favourites like mince pies and mulled wine, plus we’ll have our Mistletoe Cam and more!
