Founded in 1869 by Robert Mühle, Mühle Glashütte have a rich heritage in the watchmaking industry and are the only watchmaker in Glashütte today that are still family owned. For over 150 years, the company have specialised in precision instruments for various applications, including speedometers and marine chronometers.
The seizure of "R. Mühle & Sohn", a company that had been thriving for more than 75 years, was a devastating setback for the family. However, Mühle Glashütte experienced a pivotal shift in 1995. Instead of focusing on measurement instruments, they moved towards wristwatches. A request from a key shipyard client for mechanical wristwatches capable of enduring harsh maritime conditions marked the brand’s significant entry into the wristwatch market. This transition not only expanded their product range but also reinforced their reputation for durability and precision.
Design Aesthetics
Mühle Glashütte's design philosophy is deeply rooted in German watchmaking traditions. Functionality is at the core of their design approach, ensuring that every aspect of their watches serves a practical purpose. This commitment to practicality is complemented by a focus on accuracy, reflecting their origins in producing measurement instruments. The brand’s aesthetic is characterised by clean, minimalist designs that prioritise readability and efficiency without unnecessary embellishments. Durability is another key feature, with many of their watches built to withstand extreme conditions, staying true to their roots in creating robust nautical instruments.

Rescue-Timer, comprises emergency watches designed for extreme conditions. Panova exemplifies modern elegance and versatility, designed for everyday wear with minimalist aesthetics and durable construction. Lunova translates to 'new shine' and includes timepieces designed for women, blending classic design with contemporary functionality.
