EventHubs was founded in February 2007 and is currently the largest website in the Fighting Game Community (acronym FGC). We specialize in covering all competitive FGC titles from Street Fighter to Super Smash Bros. We are read by at least 10 million people annually.
The website started out as a dedicated page to find Street Fighter 3 Third Strike character guides written by EventHubs President and Publisher Jon "Catalyst" Grey. Today, EventHubs is co-owned and operated by Grey and Steven "DreamKing" Chavez, the site's Director of Editorial.
The site is updated daily by our dedicated staff, who look to inform our viewers of the latest news, moves listings, tier lists, cosplay, video clips, strategies, combos, technology, tournament results, and all things that fall under the category of us being a fighting game news and culture website.
Content produced by our staff includes numerous front page stories daily, which range from breaking news, reveal trailers and announcements, in-depth analysis, and more. We also consistently share Twitter and Facebook posts and upload various shows onto YouTube including EventHubs Talk and Block. You can view our IMDb page for EventHubs Talk and Block, which has a breakdown of episodes and some photos from our show.
If you're looking for the latest news about Mortal Kombat, Tekken, Marvel vs. Capcom, King of Fighters and other titles in our community, our front page is where you should start. We have just about everything you could hope to find to expand your mind on fighting game content.
EventHubs also stays up-to-date with the latest announcements and developments for major next-generation fighting games such as Street Fighter 6, Tekken 8, Mortal Kombat 1 and any potential news from Nintendo about the next Smash Bros. title.
Our team is actively keeping up with the most recent developments in eSports, and the developers and organizers who are pushing the genre forward.
We are independent journalists who report on the happenings of the Fighting Game Community professionally. Our journalists do on the spot reporting via the internet and in-person appearances at events in the competitive fighting game tournament scene.
We are one of the pioneering websites for the tier lists you see about fighting games. We began posting about them as far back as 2007. Since that time we post tier lists from top players and personalities from the FGC, as well as our own. We also host community voted tier lists for nearly every single one of our games on our website that are considered to be played competitively.
Fighting games that aren't played competitively by the fighting game community generally aren't tracked as actively in tiers or tournament results, their scenes are often too small or too sporadic to meet our qualifications for being consistently featured. However, we have the most searchable database, and often most current FGC tournament results website for major FGC tournaments on the entire internet.
EventHubs often adds bold messaging to the start of their news stories about tournament coverage when a story is being actively updated with results and appearing at the top of our website (or close to it) depending on when and where a live reporter is gathering information about the event. Event coverage often involves 1-4 people simultaneously at any given time. Other important information may be relayed in other stories in this manner as well.
EventHubs is an award winning website. EventHubs received a CEO 2011 Recognition Award from Alex Jebailey at his CEO fighting game tournament that year. On the award the inscription read "In Sincere Appreciation For Your Dedication And Continuous Contributions To The Fighting Game Community".
Our website has been been cited multiple times in the Guinness World Records Gamer's Edition books for our character stats and competitive fighting game coverage. In addition to the Guinness World Records, we've been featured in numerous print publications through the years.
EventHubs has voted on The Game Awards eSports panels from 2018 to the present date to help select the best games, players and talent in the Fighting Game Community.
Cosplay is often featured on EventHubs because it represents the characters that we love in fighting games, and the ability to recreate their appearances for modern audiences is difficult to do at a high level, so we feature these cosplayers on our website to showcase their talents. Our audience also loves cosplay, and these stories with image galleries tend to be very popular on our website.
EventHubs Style is to use the jargon in the FGC to quickly convey meaning. A character who has a projectile attack is often referred to as having a "fireball" in many cases, but there are many other examples too numerous to list here. Outside of our own style, we follow Associated Press, (AP Style) after that.
We have a small but extremely dedicated set of staff who work hard every day to keep the proverbial lights on here. Please check out their profiles and their tournament accomplishments below. Also included are their academic backgrounds and some of their experiences they wanted to share with the Fighting Game Community.
We do not believe in using Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the generation of writing or creating of articles, news or otherwise, on EventHubs. The words and code you see are typed by our wonderful staff members listed below.
Users with an official EventHubs account can comment, vote in our tiers, add tips to our guide pages, and access numerous additional features only available to people with an official site account.
