New Street Fighter 6 artwork from 35th anniversary exhibit features cameos from M. Bison, Yun, Yang, Guy, and more
Capcom is currently holding the last of their Street Fighter 35th anniversary exhibits over in Japan. Starting today and running through December 25, 2022, fans can attend the Osaka-based event and check out new Street Fighter 6 artwork, as well as get their hands on a playable demo of the game.
Street Fighter 6's director Takayuki Nakayama shared some of the art pieces those who visit the exhibit can expect to see, and these illustrations include cameos from several familiar Street Fighter faces. The likes of M. Bison, Street Fighter 3's Yun and Yang, Street Fighter Alpha's Guy, and more can be seen within this artwork.
The four illustrations focus on Kimberly, Luke, Jamie, and Juri. Nakayama noted on Twitter that the Luke art is an image from the character's Arcade Mode run, and the other three appear to be the same.
Each piece has a story element tied to the character, with Luke's being a montage of different points in his life. We see him training with Guile, his time in the military, and him as a mixed martial arts teacher.
Though Luke's Arcade illustration doesn't really have any notable cameos of characters we haven't seen in the game, the other three do.
Kimberly sits on her bed in what appears to be her college dorm room, looking on her phone as she's just come fresh out of the shower. Hanging on her wall are photos and posters of her Bushinryu inspirations, her master Guy and his master Zeku, as well as the word "SHINOBI" written in graffiti.
Juri can be seen zipping through the city on her motorcycle with the thought of classic Street Fighter villain M. Bison looming. Her motorcycle riding was also featured in her reveal trailer, and revenge on Bison has been a motivator for her in the past, meaning this art piece is probably a flashback in her Arcade Mode.
Lastly, newcomer Jamie walks the streets of Chinatown in search of criminals to take down. All the while, he has Yun and Yang on his mind, as he takes inspiration from them, and the twins can be seen up at the top of the art piece.
At this point in time, Bison, Yun, Yang, Guy, nor Zeku are playable in Street Fighter 6 and there has been no word on any of them joining the cast post launch just yet. However, it is cool to see these other classic characters featured here in the new generation, and each one appearing with the fighters that they inspire in some way, shape, or form.
Capcom previously held this exhibit in Shibuya, Tokyo back in February, then moved it to Kitakyushu, Fukuoka in June. The Osaka exhibit is set to be the last time the 35th anniversary exhibit will take place, so if you plan on attending this paid event, you'll want to make sure you do so by December 25.
Street Fighter 6 is slated for release sometime in 2023. It will launch on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
