The names Myra Hindley, Rose West, Beverly Allitt and Joanna Dennehy are instantly recognisable as the most dangerous and disturbed women born in the UK in recent times. Female serial killers are a particularly rare breed, and even then, often involve a male accomplice.

While ‘Angel of Death’ nurse Allitt acted alone when she killed four children and attempted to kill or harm nine more, Dennehy was the driving force behind her own killing spree.
