THE MIGHTY VIKING

Many hundreds of years ago, in the land of Denmark, there was a girl whose name was Hervor.

She lived in the hall of her grandfather, the great lord Bjarmar. Hervor's mother was named Svafa, and she told her daughter that she should always be ladylike.

“You are the granddaughter of a nobleman, so you must be polite and dignified and well dressed!” she would tell Hervor while she plaited the girl's hair.

“But that's boring!” Hervor would complain. “I would rather to go out riding and learn how to shoot a bow!”
