Courtney: This is the first time WorldPride is happening in the Southern Hemisphere which is super exciting. What does that mean to you, to have such a big, epic Pride celebration coming to Sydney?
Casey: I think it’s amazing. After the last few years we’ve had of lockdown, I’m very much looking forward to everyone coming together and celebrating love, being loved, and being exactly who they want to be with no judgement. Yay!
Courtney: First Nations people have been central to the whole campaign for this WorldPride, from the artwork for the festival guide to the hundreds of events, to having Ben Graetz, who is a First Nations person and the fabulous drag queen, Miss Ellaneous, as the creative director of the festival. How does it feel for you? Does it feel authentic?
It does. I love to see it. I always hate to say, ‘oh we’ve finally got First Nations people’. That shouldn’t be our vocabulary. It should be, here we are as a country
