Empathy lessons to improve behaviour
A study suggests one term of empathy lessons in schools could lead to positive behavioural changes. Nine-hundred pupils aged five to 18 in six countries were shown thought-provoking films before a 30-minute activity and discussion session. Empathy, the ability to understand and share others’ feelings, is considered something we develop through childhood and life experiences. Pupils were rated by teachers on empathy, behaviour and other characteristics, with the average empathy and behaviour scores rising during following weeks.
