What our readers think

Readers find this title to be a good enemies to lovers romance with strong friendships, tasty food descriptions, and diverse queer characters. However, some readers found the book to be cheesy and had difficulty getting into it due to the narrator. There were also mixed opinions about the representation of African American fiction. While some appreciated the attempt, others felt that it fell short. The ending was also criticized for being flat. Overall, the book received positive feedback for its characters, but it may not be for everyone.

It's such a sweet story. I appreciate the inclusivity and loved the reference to Ms. Congeniality.

The book was good, but seriously cheesy and the narrator made it hard to really get into it at times, although get accents were spot on, could listen to her in South Islander accent all day

A good enemies to lovers romance. I loved the strong friendships, the tasty food descriptions, all the Trini culture and how many queer characters there were.

It was good but not actually for me. I like each character and felt a connection with them. But, overall it just wasn’t for me.

I can't...After a sketchy chapter one, chapter 2 did it for me. While I appreciate the attempt at 'African American fiction', nothing about the narration or even some of the conversation gave me that vibe. I wanted to like it and the story seemed like it would be interesting. Representation matters!
