About this audiobook
A stolen identity leads a woman down a dark and desperate path in a gripping novel of psychological suspense by Wall Street Journal bestselling author Minka Kent.
After barely surviving a brutal attack, Brienne Dougray rarely leaves her house. Suffering from debilitating headaches and memory loss, she can rely only on her compassionate new tenant, Dr. Niall Emberlin, a welcome distraction from the discomfiting bubble that has become her existence.
But Brienne’s growing confidence in her new routine is shaken when she stumbles across unsettling evidence that someone else is living as…her. Same name. Same car. Same hair. Same clothes. She’s even friended her family on social media. To find out why, Brienne must leave the safety of her home to hunt a familiar stranger.
What she discovers is more disturbing than she could have ever imagined. With her fragile mind close to shattering, Brienne is prepared to do anything to reclaim her life. If it’s even hers to reclaim.

What our readers think
Readers find this title to be a mixed bag. Some reviewers enjoyed the twists and turns, finding the story well-written with interesting characters. They highly recommend it and praise the narrators. However, there were negative reviews about the narrator's voice, with some finding it difficult to understand or annoying. - Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5The female narrator was awful. Made the language sound hyperbolic. Sounded whiney and over-the-top. Also, plot had many holes and was not believable. And protagonist came across as being really stupid.

- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5Not sure why I suffered through this. Realized what was going on a few minutes into the book and then had to listen to main character not figure it out forever.

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Ok, I read the reviews about the narration and thought it couldn't be that bad. Well, it is. (IN the beginning) it was meant to make her look pitiful and it did. Just hang in there! After all the whining it got interesting. Far fetched but I'm not looking for realism!
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Great cat and mouse game with dual pov.. kept me guessing and rooting for the main character who was smart. Kept the suspense till the end, good motive of villain and great ending
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5I enjoyed the twists and turns until the end, when it felt the author just "wrapped it up." Otherwise an enjoyable read.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I really liked the unexpected outcome and the twists and turns that are characteristic of her writing.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Very good read. Get thru the first part and it sails. Kept my interest until the end.
- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5I was super excited for this book, but it just felt so predictable at every turn. It was an okay read for what it is, but certainly nothing special. Almost didn’t finish, but stuck it out
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5What an awesome read. Great twists. Solid ending and overall great book. I am only lost on one part but that’s ok. It was still good

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Great story with some twist in there. Took sometime to get use to the narrators voice but over a good listen.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Great read. A little slow at first, almost easy to figure out in the middle but I had to know what happened so I listened to the whole thing. No skipping chapters.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5A bit slow almost gave up but sure glad I kept going! Thought I had the twist figured out but I was very wrong.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5I can't understand the narrator. I have the volume turned all the way up.... Very difficult. Book sounded really good though... Might need to get the paperback

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Slightly slow engagement in the beginning but was a worthy read.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5The narrator needs to calm down lol, I had to turn it off after 5 mins, it is unlistenable
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Really enjoyed this story! Very well written and tense all the way, while keeps you wanting to know more! Both narrators were also really good, can't understand those reviews with criticism towards the narrator! Both did a really good job!

- Rating: 1 out of 5 stars1/5Do the authors have any say in choosing the narrator? If yes, what the hell is with female narrator? WHY?
I decided to leave such ratings from now on, because someone needs to be held accountable for this torture. I'm sorry, but it's unbearable.2 people found this helpful

- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5Stupid main character. Lots of holes.
- Rating: 1 out of 5 stars1/5This book started off good when written in the voice of Brienne, but once it went Naill/Shane it quickly went downhill, really bad. The writing got poor, the story line became ridiculous with characters putting themselves into situations that nobody in their right mind or even crazy would ever do. And each ridiculous situation was topped by the next page. I got this book free on A.Prime and I feel I overpaid.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Fast-paced thriller. I enjoyed the first Brienne part where it seemed most of the mysterious unknowns were being laid out and I was into the concept. However, when it turned to alternating narrators that's where any practicality was lost in what I had read at the beginning. Some of the developments were so out of left field that I thought the typical "this would never happen...why wouldn't they just do this...". I am fine with that every now and then but it seemed the second half of the book had way too much especially with one of the narrators. This is my first Minka Kent and I have heard good things on her past works. I will definitely check out some of her backlist - this one started as promising but it didn't end up being the type of novel I usually enjoy. 2.5 starsThank you to Net Galley and Thomas & Mercer for the ARC in exchange for my review.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5A psychological thriller that takes you for a ride. After she survives a brutal attack, Brienne doesn't leave her house. Her tenant seems to be her only friend. Out of nowhere, she discovers someone else using her identity. Brienne sets out to find this stranger, but what she finds is more disturbing than just a case of stolen identity.
- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5This book tries to be something much more sinister than straightforward identity theft, but the abundant plot holes and implausibility ruined it for me.The writing itself is engaging. I was initially intrigued by the situation, and I wanted to know more about Brienne. But we really don't learn much about her at all, aside from what's necessary for the plot. The major twist is like a train coming at you with its horn wailing. It's easy to see coming from early on.Pacing is slow for the first third or so. And then the twist happens, and then you have to toss belief out the window. I can't give details without spoilers, so I'll just say that Brienne's gullibility and poor decisions were the only shocking aspects of this story.
