PREFACE
tmp_aff672238be2b14740ba7ea5a2130921_3gVGf7_html_m77f9305a.jpgSummer had ended in 1910 when Lucy Maud Montgomery laid down her pen with genuine regret. She had just finished writing her fourth book, The Story Girl. Sitting at her table by the window in her dear white room
, the author mentally bade farewell to her characters and, in a sense, to her youth.
Montgomery sensed that The Story Girl would be the last book she would ever write in her home in Cavendish, Prince Edward Island, where she had dreamt, suffered, and grown up.
