Author

Janet Evans

Ever since she was a child Janet Evans had an appreciation for jewelry especially those that are hand crafted and not commercially manufactured. This led her to try to find out as much as she could about jewelry making until it got to a point where she made the decision to try her hand at it. After trying out one method she found that she was driven to do further research to perfect her craft. As this was a hobby for her the progress was slow but she did get through it all and found that by combining a number of techniques from different jewelry making guides, she was able to produce jewelry that she not only liked but could sell as well to make some extra cash. She also saw the need to put some sort of text together that would more advanced than a very basic outline of how to create jewelry but not as complex as the more advanced texts that can be found on the market today. Janet was interested in creating a text that would be easy to understand and also provide a bit more than just the mere basics. What she has presented is what she has tried herself.

this was a nice book for kids who are interested in learning facts about dinosaurs. my son loved it, he was never in to them when he was younger but reading this to him and seeing what they are all about and what kind there are just made him think those creatures are awesome. he def liked the coloring part alot lol.

I REALLY wanted to like this book. I like dinosaurs and I like kids books, so I thought it would be a great match for me. Unfortunately reality fell far short of expectations. While this book has a decent idea, albeit one that has been done before, it falls flat on the execution. My number one comment about this book is that it is desperately in need of an editor. Some of my complaints might be due to the author's attempt at a personal style. I understand that this is a children's book and the author is trying to make it fun, but sometimes the facts get muddled in that attempt. I taught science for years, and understanding how difficult it can be to keep kids attention when giving them facts and figures, but the facts shouldn't change as a result. Other issues I have with this book simply boil down to poor punctuation, grammar, etc. I started making notes (as I generally do whenever I read a book for review), but my notes became so copious that I had to stop in the early parts of chapter 2. Lastly, some of the information is just plain wrong. Maybe the author was looking at out-of-date source material (dino facts DO get updated quite regularly as scientists find new information) but there were things that were incorrect.All-in-all, I wouldn't recommend this book or even let my child read it.

This is geared towards small children, but I enjoyed it immensely as an adult. I was happy to see that my favorite dinosaur was included: the velociraptor. There was a lot of good information contained within this book and I like the pictures that accompanied it.
