Snippet
The thing about men it seems is that they don’t want you truly until they hurt you. And I have been hurt more than once by two different men that I thought I loved.
No, that is wrong I did love them. Still love them. I just don’t know if the love I have for them is stronger then the pain they caused. Or if I am just fooling myself thinking that I still love them when I have Terrell.
Terrell is the only man that hasn’t hurt me. And I know I love him and I know he loves me. He has been my rock and my soft shoulder to cry on. Terrell and I started out our relationship as friends. A relationship I was happy with but Terrell had stronger feeling for me, he wanted more than just friendship. At first it scared the shit out of me. I was an emotional wreck and was not even sure that I deserved anyone in my life other than friends.

Prologue
But here I am in love again with my best friend. I am in love with Terrell and he loved me. I know deep in my heart that he would never cheat or leave me standing on the curb crying in front of a hotel. This should feel perfect. Every woman is supposed to be happy when they are in love.
The feeling was right, but I was with the right person? How could I know when I was still in love with Malcolm and Armon?
Chapter 1
Oh, my God. Oh my God, I shout in my head. This cannot be happening. Malcolm and Armon should not be here. Why are they here?
I feel Terrell’s hand in mine and squeeze. I need strength and he is my strength.
What are you doing here?
I asked to both Malcolm and Armon, but my eyes are looking at Armon. There is something in his eyes and the look over his face which tells me he is surprised to see me with Terrell.
I came here for you,
Armon answered. I knew then that it was sadness that I saw on his face and not surprise by the sound of his voice.
Why?
Because…
he paused as if trying to find the right words to say, you didn’t pick up your plane ticket from the front desk at the hotel. I didn’t know where you had gone. I was worried.
I could tell that he was genuinely worried by how his voiced lowered as if I would not believe him. We hadn’t been together that long and yet I could tell his emotions by the look on his face and the sound of voice. To a stranger, he was unreadable a stone man.
You were worried? You have a funny way of showing it,
Terrell chided. I knew he was still mad at Armon for the way he had left me, but I did not want to have them arguing out on the sidewalk in front of my building. I knew Terrell would not back down from Armon because he felt it as his right and duty to protect me and speak for me.
Terrell.
He faced Faith when she called his name and could tell she was wanting him to not start a fight with Armon outside.
Are you ready to go upstairs?
Terrell asked me speaker softer than he did to Armon.
I felt guilty for wanting to go up stairs with Terrell because of the look on Armon’s face. But the memory of how he looked at me in D.C had me saying, Yes, I would.
Faith, I need to talk you,
Armon called out with desperation in a voice that I had not heard from him before. The desperation reminded me of how I sounded the night he left me on the curb in front of the hotel.
I turned back to Armon to respond, but Malcolm started. Are you alright, Faith? Ebony said you had an emergency to come up,
Malcolm said.
Yes, Malcolm, I did.
There was an iciness in my tone when I spoke to him but it should have been aimed at Armon.
When I focused on Malcolm I notice how his eyes passed from me to Terrell as if he was trying to figure out a puzzle.
Were you with Terrell?
Malcolm asked me while looking at Terrell. He seemed to know the answer, but wanted to hear me say it.
That is none of your business,
Terrell barked out before I had a chance to answer.
The look on Malcolm’s face changed so quickly to anger I had to blink. At the time that Malcolm and I had been together, I had never seen him this angry.
I asked Faith, not you,
Malcolm said.
She...
I’ll talk to you tomorrow, Malcolm,
I rushed to say. I knew that Terrell was willing and ready to fight my battle for me. I just did not want him to do so now. It’s been a long flight and I am tired.
And is he,
Armon said, looking back to Terrell, going up to your place with you?
Yes, he is.
My voice was harsh and cold. He desired no empathy after how he left me. Armon did not put money in my bra or leave it on the nightstand, but he still made me feel like a hooker buying me an airplane ticket home and leaving it at the front desk.
I see.
Armon’s words were soft and low but I heard them loud and clear.
I turned towards my building, pulling Terrell with me. I
