About this ebook
With my personal experience of COVID-19 lockdown due to corona pandemic as a physiotherapy practitioner and a academician, I have written this book to address all the issues related to physiotherapy practice & education during the lockdown phase in India caused by the most crippling disease corona which is caused by the corona virus.
This is my sincere effort to write down about the corona viruses, its effect on world as well as on India, lockdown cased by it with its purpose, role of physiotherapist as a health care team member to fight against corona, dark and bright side of clinical practice & education in physiotherapy affected by this lockdown. Present & future strategies to deal with the current situation and to combat this COVID-19 lockdown effects.
There was not a single book on such topic written by physiotherapist for physiotherapy professionals and physiotherapy students. This book is a need of hour to fill that gap and help everyone for gaining a deep knowledge on such a important issue which is continuously ignored by the policy makers
I have referred most of the national & international reports, government guidelines & orders to make a better understanding of the concept & its impact on society in all manners with special reference to physiotherapy practice & education.
Although I have taken great care in writing this book, and try to cover all the aspects but it is possible that might have committed some errors. Hence, comments and criticism from seniors, juniors’ and students would, therefore, be highly appreciated and would be rectified in future.
Wish you a happy reading.

Acknowledgement
It would be impossible for me to acknowledge all the people who have given contribution in writing this book. It is my pleasure and privilege to engrave the deep sense of gratitude to my teachers, parents, friends, colleagues who induced a great desire for teaching in me and without whom my passion for physiotherapy would not be nearly so deep. Words cannot express my appreciation for the students who help in fact findings, data collection and provide a great help to me and who motivates me to write all these facts in the form of a book.
My sincere thanks to the management of Mody University, Lakshmangarh especially to our beloved Dean SLAS-Prof. Uma Bhardwaj who accommodated me as a teacher and given me all the freedom to accomplish my goal.
All About Covid-19
Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is an infectious disease caused by a newly discovered coronavirus. Most people infected with the COVID-19 virus will experience mild to moderate respiratory illness and recover without requiring special treatment. Older people and those with underlying medical problems like cardiovascular disease, diabetes, chronic respiratory disease, and cancer are more likely to develop serious illness.
COVID-19 is a potential zoonotic disease with low to moderate (estimated 2%–5%) mortality rate. The pathogen of the outbreak was later identified as a novel beta-coronavirus, named 2019 novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) and recalled to our mind the terrible memory of the severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS-2003, caused by another beta-coronavirus) that occurred 17 years ago.
The COVID-19 is declared pandemic by world health organisation on 12th march 2020 after more than 20,000 confirmed cases and there have been almost 1000 deaths in the European Region.
As per world health organisation pandemic is not a word to use lightly or carelessly. It is a word that, if misused, can cause unreasonable fear, or unjustified acceptance that the fight is over, leading to unnecessary suffering and death. It is virus having huge family of viruses which may cause illness in animals or humans. In humans, several corona viruses are known to cause respiratory infections ranging from the common cold to more severe diseases such as Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) and Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS). The most recently discovered corona virus causes corona virus disease COVID-19. This new virus and disease were unknown before the outbreak began in Wuhan, China, in December 2019.
COVID-19 is now a pandemic affecting many countries globally. The disease spreads when People can catch COVID-19 from others who have the
