Educate Empower Kids
Comprised of parents and professionals, the mission of Educate and Empower Kids (EEK) is to empower parents to create deep connection with their kids through media education, meaningful family communication and intentional parenting. As a nonprofit 501(c)(3), EEK works across the country to provide essential resources for parents, educators and clinicians to teach children and teenagers how to become resilient and strong. We believe this must be done by teaching digital citizenship, media literacy, and healthy sexuality education-including education about the dangers of online porn.

INTRODUCTION
Sexual intimacy is one of the greatest experiences available to us as human beings. We feel that it is imperative that you are able to clearly express this sentiment to your child. Each of us at Educate and Empower Kids is a parent and like all parents, we feel passionate about providing positive, thought-provoking experiences for our children to learn from. In the world we live in, this is not an easy task.
Our goal is not only to provide you with an opportunity to start conversations about crucial topics, but also to help you create an environment in your home which encourages open discussions about the many other issues which will inevitably come up as you are raising your child. Talking with your child about sex and intimacy is a great way to open the door for other important discussions. After all, this is what makes us human—it’s part of what makes the human experience beautiful.
Children in the US spend an average of 7.5 hours consuming media each day (Boyse, RN, 2010). Additionally, according to one study, 42% of children had been exposed to pornography in the past year and of those, 67% were exposed to it accidentally (Wolack, et al., 2007). With the amount of sex and violence in almost every medium our kids are watching, we need to ask ourselves what we are doing to counteract all that screen time.
The purpose of this curriculum is to help you as parents establish and grow open and honest communication with your child about sex, intimacy, the dangers of online pornography and your child’s view of him or herself. We believe that once you have started these conversations, you will be empowered to talk to your child about anything.
With this program, we’ve made it simple for you to talk about love, sex, bodies and relationships. You can discuss sex in the context in which it belongs; as a part of a healthy relationship that also includes joy, laughter and the full range of emotion that defines human intimacy.
GETTINGSTARTED
The curriculum includes a book, glossary and a code to download the topic cards. Each topic is followed by several bullet points. These bullet points contain terms to define and discuss with your child as well as questions or statements designed to inspire conversations between you
