I want to dedicate this to a few select people in my life and not. To my children, Jitterbug, Junebug, and Ladybug, because you all drive me to be a better mother, a better person, and a better writer. To my best friend, sister, and my rib, Kari. For you are the one that keeps pushing me, keeps me cool-headed when I lose my footing in this everyday thing we call life, and I thank you for that. To my rock, my best friend, my other half; my Soulmate. For you have put up with a lot and never get the credit you deserve. You have been through my dark times and my more than bright times. We have built more than an empire; we have created a kingdom. I know I have not been the best Queen, but you still stuck by me. For that, you have my unconditional love, and I will be here till death do us part. Lastly, to a man that is no longer on this earth, a man who got me to start down this path to writing, to a man that gave me a reason to wear my flaws on my sleeve; my late Grandfather. He has always been my angel on my wing; if he were here, he would still push me no matter what. For that, I will always look to the stars, and I know you are even encouraging the best of me.
Chapter One
Anastasia:
It's dark, but I hear the rain. I don't know where I am. My head hurts like somebody hit with something. I'm cold, I try to move, and I can't. I'm chained to something. I begin to shake with fear; where could I be? Help me! Someone, please help me!
I begin to cry. I'm still dressed, so what's going on? I try to remember as hard as I could... I woke up at 5 am; morning jogs are best when done early. I put on my favorite jogging clothes, grabbed my iPod off the dresser, slipped on my tennis shoes, and was ready to go. I head downstairs, trying not to wake my mom and dad. Stepping out onto the front porch and there is an excellent breeze blowing, but something felt different.
I locked up, trying to shake that weird feeling. It's just your nerves, Anastasia, and you know what you have to do. So, stop the bitching and do it like Nike.
No matter how many times I say this to myself, I always run past his house. But today was different. I had to tell him how I truly felt about him. I headed next door and knocked. It felt like someone was watching me, but I couldn't see inside. I rang the doorbell, which I didn't want to do, just if his dad woke up. There was still no answer, so I left. I glance back, and it seems as if someone was looking right at me. I rubbed my eyes to make sure I saw right, and when I looked over my shoulder again, no one was there! Shrugging it off and started my run. After my regular hour and a half run, I return home. I hurried to get ready for school because I must catch Chance and tell him. As the days go by, all the time I have already lost not telling him how I truly feel about him, how I have fallen in love with him, and never had the guts to say anything till now. The smell of food pulls me from my thoughts.
My mom is up cooking breakfast. She is a beautiful woman, in her mid-40s, and still looks as if she is in her late 20s. She has a lovely light skin complexion with an impressive athletic build. I hope I age as gracefully as she did since I inherited her beautiful hazel brown eyes; it would only be right to inherit the rest. I have my dad's chestnut brown hair. Now my dad is the reason I don't like my friends coming over. They drool over him way too much for my liking. He also has an excellent athletic build; he has
