Raising A Prodigal - Marsha Mclean

    Introduction

The Prodigal Son (Luke 15:11-32) is my favorite Bible story. In it, a rich young man leaves home, squanders his money, and ends up working as a servant. He eventually comes to himself and decides to go home, where he finds his father has been waiting for him, ready to embrace him and welcome him home.

This story is a great reminder that you can come home to get revived, start again and be successful, regardless of what you’ve been through. So I didn’t know how to help my son when he was struggling. Making your child respect you doesn’t work in this day and age. I had to be creative and find what was going to work for him and for me. But I didn’t have anything else. I didn’t have family to get positive answers from. That’s when I turned to God.

I wasn’t raised in church. I didn’t know anything except Easter or Christmas. But I was told about God at age eighteen or nineteen and eventually found that He’ll give you a peace that no one else understands. I could go to Him in prayer and
